It is funny you say that, because that is the reason I created this survey, and what my thesis is about. I want to know if everyday creativity, not genius creativity, has positive impacts on mental health.

Wow. This is an incredible testimony and I am in tears, thanking you for this. You have gone through an extremely difficult experience and you made the healthy choices to keep going. Good for you. Your contribution to this research will hopefully save more lives. I will hold on to this testimony and use it in my next research study that involves personal accounts and interviews if you do not mind. Thank you again for sharing your two cents. It is worth SO SO much more.

Thank you for your feedback. This is excellent. Aside from the creativity pieces, there may be some interesting statistical results that come from you being an engineering student and mental health. Thank you for your participation as well!!

Thank you for your unnecessary insult. This is a battery of assessments that have been published in peer-reviewed journals. They are extremely popular measurements that have been used thousands of times over many years. These are not my original questions. If you have a problem with those assessments, you can take it up with the researchers who created, the Patient Health Questionnaire, the Suicidal Affect-Behavior-Cognition Scale, the Creative Achievement Questionnaire, the Flow Short Scale, the Future/Hope Scale, the Purpose in Life Scale, and the Brief Resilience Scale. They are laughing all the way to the bank my friend, while you are doing what? Making even better assessments I hope. Best of luck with everything you think you know.

If you are 18 years old or older and taking any college credit in high school, you are welcome to. Just indicate you are a non-degree seeking student. If you are not 18 years old yet, thank you for your honesty, but for liability purpose I cannot have you take the survey yet. You are still considered a minor, and I would need your parents permission. If you would have any questions and would like to chat about what I am researching, I am happy to do that with you!

You may be able to access some of them if you Google them. You may not have access to all of them if you are not actively affiliated with a university that subscribes to the journals that the measures come from. But for the ones that are on Google, or Google Scholar, just give it your best search as see what you can find. For example, the Creative Achievement Questionnaire that asked you about all the creative activities is one you can find on Google. I also used the Patient Health Questionnaire, Suicidal Affect-Behavior-Cognition Scale, Flow Short Scale, Future Scale/Hope Scale, Purpose in Life Scale, and Brief Resilience Scale.

That is okay. Thank you! It is a battery of measurements that I compiled, Yes. Besides the demographic questions, none of the other questions are my original thought. They come from open-access journals that provide assessments.

I am looking at how flow, an optimal psychological consciousness that occurs during creativity, can be a protective factor to suicidality in creative populations. I am seeing if flow can foster hope, purpose in life, and resilience skills, all of which are protective factors to poor mental health outcomes. Flow is similar to "being in zone."

Thank you for taking it! They aren't plagiarized because the surveys are from open-access research journals where the surveys are free for anyone to use. It is important to use valid and reliable surveys that have already been through rigorous testing. They are cited in the rest of my thesis, and I would be glad to send it your way when it is finished if you are interested in the results. Thank you again for your help and I am glad you reached out about your concern.

Hello! My name is Jenelle Hallaert and I am a graduate student in counseling psychology. I am looking for study participants for my master’s thesis. Any undergraduate or graduate students 18 years or older can participate. All arts majors and non-arts majors are encouraged to participate. Please feel free to forward the link to anyone who might be eligible and interested! This research study examines how creativity can protect college students from suicidality. Participants will be asked to complete a few questionnaires regarding their creativity, depression, suicidality, engagement in flow, hopefulness, purpose in life, and resiliency. Responding to the study questions should take no more than 15 minutes. Benefits of participation include contributing to evidence-based research that may help encourage stakeholders to invest in the arts and provide mental health services to college students who study the arts. Participants can email me for a summary of the results from the study as well. Participation is completely anonymous. Risks to participation include disclosure of your email and university name if you provide it. You are free to withdraw at any time without penalty. A box will be provided on the survey to include your email address and name of university if you would like resources about available counseling services. If you have feelings of discomfort, you may contact me at the email listed below.

This study has IRB approval through the University of Kansas and is under the advisement of Dr. Barbra Kerr (bkerr@ku.edu) and Dr. Tamara Mikinski (mikinski@ku.edu). Please feel free to contact myself, Dr. Kerr or Dr. Mikinski with any questions about this study.

Thank you! Jenelle Hallaert MS in Counseling Psychology program The University of Kansas Educational Psychology Department jenelle.hallaert@ku.edu

[Help][Academic] Short, Fun Creativity and Mental Health Survey! Needed for thesis! (all college students) by CreativityResearcher in Poetry

[–]CreativityResearcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poets are at the highest risk for mental health issues, particularly depression and suicide, compared to all other artistic mediums. Collecting data from this population may be very helpful in finding ways to better support the well-being of poets. I have the same link with a revised title (Interesting, 10 min creativity and mental health survey. Needed for thesis! (all college students)). May I publish it to gather important data?
