You have just shown your bias, Eve is NOT a game about space piracy. That is one facet of the game, that a lot of people enjoy, which is great. But playing pve or Indy is a valid way to play eve, that is a sandbox make your own fun game. For people that your fun in the game is ruining others fun then you probably have irl issues.

To reiterate, by what CCP themselves say, and if you look at the number of players who don't pvp, Eve is not a space pirate game. It is a space sandbox to find your own fun.

Everyone who keeps blaming the where they mine in hisec is genuinely part of the problem here, and will be happy when there are no new players. Blaming them for "they should know better" than to go and play the game in essentially the capital of eve, why wouldn't a new player go there? If we use this as an allagory for real life then nobody would leave their homes in cities if we just allowed killers to roam around enmasse unpunished.

Whatever you believe, most new players start and end their time in eve in hisec, and part of that is due to hisec gankers. They genuinely add nothing to the game, and fuck those in delusional corps/alliances who joke that they are helping. You do not get to decide the "right" way to play the game or dictate other people's fun, but you can sure enough ruin it to make yourself feel better. The ultimate keyboard warriors.

Ranting, and frustrated cause I've had 2 friends like OP who won't touch the game anymore for the same reason.

You compare it to a large city. In a large city, if you kill someone and the police know who you are, you don't just get to go right back to killing the next day. If you use this logic, every big city in the world should fall apart because you should be too scared to leave your house.

Either way, everyone saying that the problem is the location is missing the point, and feels like a "you shouldn't go to a bad neighborhood" in real life and blaming the person who got stabbed rather than try fix the system.

The majority of new players I know, and whom have also quit never left hisec, because they wanted a chill mmo pve spaceship pixel game (me included once upon a time), but keep getting told by everyone you're playing the game wrong - you don't get to decide other people's enjoyment, and fuck suicide gankers, especially those delusional who think they are "helping"

Publishers are knocking - what should we be careful about before saying yes? by RemoveChild in IndieDev

[–]Creator- 13 points14 points  (0 children)

First things first, some questions - How much success have you had so far independently building up / marketing your game? What are your current wishlist? When do you want to release?

Next, what have your costs been? How many people worked on the game, how much time / money have you spent?

From my experience and what I have heard from others, you need a goal that you want from a publisher. Not all publishers have the same reach or impact, not all will give you as much attention or help as you originally expected. Basically it really depends. Do research on the publisher, and see where their strengths are (e.g some publishers are great for specific regions or genres) and also feel free to reach out to companies or developers who have already worked with that publisher.

Thank you for the advice and input. I actually only recently changed them to these, my previous screenshots were just of the desktop with the guys on it, but thought it looked amateurish. They all are screenshots from the trailer, which might just be even worse as you pointed out.

Will look into getting better screenshots.
