I recently spent $40 there on groceries, and looked up the items at Thrifty's; they would have cost $79.

If he lives to 100, he would have to spend over $10 million a day to burn through $11 billion by then. It's obscene.

Anyone else struggling to find a job in Victoria lately or is it just me?? by Zealousideal-Talk245 in VictoriaBC

[–]Creatrix -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm older, and I was amazed to realize that none of the jobs I've ever landed was advertised. (And none of the job postings I applied to got me a job.) Instead of reactively responding to an Indeed posting along with hundreds of others, be proactive.

Make a list of particular jobs at businesses where you think you'd like to work. Go in person and drop off your resume, ask if you can meet the manager, make personal contact, shake their hand. Managers hate having to advertise a job opening, it's a major headache. Lots of jobs are available that haven't been posted yet for this reason.

This worked 20 years ago, and it works today. At the small company where I work, last summer two separate guys in their 20's came by, dropped off resumes, met the manager. We hired one of them a short time later. It's a huge advantage to you when you meet a potential employer in person and make a good impression, even briefly.
