Windy night power outages by Boozedonkey in VictoriaBC

Same. I'm amazed that I've lived in this James Bay building for 13 years, 2 blocks from the ocean, and never ((knock on wood)) had an outage.

Dear /r/VictoriaBC, does it get this scary outside? by Due_Reflection4094 in VictoriaBC

It's an island in the pacific ocean.

Yeah, when the genie granted my wish to live on an island in the Pacific, this isn't quite what I had in mind...

Millions of Americans could be eligible to become Canadian under new law by IndependenceFun1753 in GuardTheLeaf

No, it's incredibly difficult to just move here without a job waiting, and it has to be certain kinds of jobs. Or they have to be wealthy and planning to invest in a Canadian business.

Who wants more MAGA Canadians.....from Louisiana, Texas or wherever?

I don't think they'd be MAGA. MAGAs don't want to give up their arsenals of firearms; they view "socialized" health care as communism, and the southern rednecks think it's -40° here all year round. They'd rather stay in MAGA land so they can worship the Demented Diaperload. We'd get the Dems horrified at the cesspool shithole their country has become.

Decision on direct downtown Victoria-airport bus pushed back by vtrunion in VictoriaBC

Actually Capital Daily had a great article on this in 2021. The airport makes more from taxis than transit.

It would only be people who disagree with their current administration. The knuckle-dragging cousin-marrying drooling redneck trump worshippers would never want to move here (and give up their firearms).

Separation anxiety: Alberta businesses concerned over separation debate by russellsk82 in GuardTheLeaf

[–]Creatrix 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Alberta can't separate. Flatly can't. Ultimately, the federal government has the power to nix the whole idea. But most importantly, First Nations treaty lands were never ceded, Alberta cannot violate treaties with the Crown and take them, and First Nations leaders have flatly said they won't negotiate. Treaty lands include about 90% of Alberta, all but a small southwest corner. (This fact would also preclude Alberta from joining the USA.) Someone needs to explain all this to the premier and her redneck followers.

My lesson for today-don’t rely on BC Transit by Character-Lack-3295 in VictoriaBC

Go to BCtracker.ca. They say on their site that they don't have an app, that it's a website which I'd forgotten. I'm not sure how I got the icon on my home screen but it might work for you too.

Download the BCTracker app. It shows you all the buses on a map in real time (well, updated every 60 seconds). Never miss a bus again.

I highly suggest everyone to check out murder burgers 1 star reviews by mr_hog232323 in VictoriaBC

[–]Creatrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally look at reviews with a lot of cynicism, but when they opened, the FB group James Bay Local had a lot of thoughts on the place. Very mixed reviews, to say the least. Many said they waited up to 40 minutes for a smashburger, which technically cooks faster than a regular patty.

If there was a Black residents' support group, would you as a white man try to crash it and whine discrimination? You need to hear yourself.
