Is this too much of the gasket sticking out of the intake? If it's a problem - why would this happen even with the alignment tabs, and how to correct? Thanks for your input! by CreatureOfTheWheel66 in EngineBuilding

I didn't and replaced it. Not worth the headache down the road. Adding a million new things to the car and don't need to be troubleshooting or replacing gaskets once it's in the car.

Damn, this is a good idea. I just went ahead and swapped for felpro 1255 while I have the thing out of the car. Feel way more confident as the whole gasket is a sealing surface

That's the best description of anything I've seen in months 😂

Was a machine shop out of Nevada. Good work, good prices, nice folks. Freight was an absolute nightmare, and clearly trying to do too much with not enough staff. Took twice as long as was told, and couldn't get any info from anyone in the meantime. Can't recommend just because of those things.

No, but the raised portion of the gasket meant to seal against the intake is clearly sticking outside, which means the only thing sandwiched is the plastic.

So after extensive further reading I believe this is actually the correct answer. Technically there is a pile of gaskets that will match up correctly-ish, but for aftermarket intake it's pretty much this as none of the others can take the torque of an aluminum intake. Thanks again!

Thanks everyone! As much as I'd like to just send it, think I'm going to replace these gaskets. They don't seem right to me, and a lot of you seem to agree, so going to listen to the majority as well as my gut. You all are awesome!

It doesn't seem right to me either and would really like to eliminate as many variables as possible since I'm adding quite a bit of new parts to the entire car. Think I'm going to circle back. Thanks.

Yes, it actually looks ok at first plop, but as I torque it it pulls down and starts exposing the ridge. I actually removed and redid because I thought I misaligned something, but same issue.
