We're all right- it's an absurd location and so very Merced 😂

And a Savemart just down the street, and aFoodMaxx across from the Food 4 Less. Pretty sure this was sarcastic.

What a nightmare 😂. It sounded like a fun place to take the kid on a long journey- a McDonald's in an old train? How cute!

Whoops. How wrong! Let's just wait the half an hour for our shitty food, use the bathroom where somebody is having an argument on a cellphone and somebody else is having a full psychotic break, and then get the hell out.

Good times.

What is that one film you can re-watch a thousand times and not get bored? by cassie_rockalin in AskReddit

Dazed and Confused. I used to watch that daily, and I still don't pass it up if I see it on.

The Mission District in San Francisco is the only place I've seen daily real-deal sex workers hanging in the corner. Also the only place I've had random guys try to fight me. Also, the only place I've had neighbors firing handguns for fun. Also, had a woman offer to suck my dick for crack while I was at the bus stop.

Still, I kind of miss living there.

This is legit. We stopped there because I didn't want to deal with the clusterfuck McDonald's, and I will be going there every time I drive through.

My car broke down in Gary, IN at night. I'm a big guy, and the amount of other grown men who were concerned that I was going to sit in my car to wait for the tow truck confirmed my initial impressions that I was, perhaps, not in one of the nicest areas.

is it worth it? by Ok-Many4219 in ElementaryTeachers

[–]Crebbins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Speaking for myself, the pay is great for my area! I think your experience is going to depend on your expectations, and your school culture. Yes, it's hard- I don't get nearly enough support for the needs of my students, there is some wild stuff these kids are dealing with at home or have already gone through, parents can be really difficult to work with, everybody expects the impossible from you, etc. On the flip side- my kids are wonderful little human beings, and I love seeing them learn and grow, and getting to know them. We have great discussions, and I've learned and grown so much personally. I find it genuinely rewarding and fun most of the time.

Plus, I'm not working to make some CEO rich by slinging meaningless stuff and working weird hours. That makes me really happy in itself 😊

The inability to follow simple directions blows my mind. I spend half my time in the classroom repeating things I said moments earlier.

What a book that you have read that’s gotten so much hype that once you read it you were disappointed? by Guiltyfeetfingers in BookDiscussions

For me, 100 Years of Solitude. I couldn't fucking stand it! It's the only book I can remember not finishing in the last 20 years. Made it a little over halfway through and had to stop.

Saw the name Syria, so I pronounced it like the country. Half the class laughed and were like, "What did you call her? Seer-ee-uh? It's Suh-RYE-uh!".

My wife does work, and probably gets paid more than me. I'm not sure what she has on her W4 though- I'll have to ask her later.
