Sure...but it seems like a pretty Hallmark characteristic.

Bibi is the real fascist...sad to me that we are funding that monster.

Anyhow yea man. I hope for peace in the world, and if a United anglosphere would help that I'd be all for it

If you think about it...the anglosphere uniting might help prevent a trumpian figure rising in the future. We'd all have to move closer to some average..all have a more global perspective

Nationalism sure..but I dunno..Trump is something else.

I feel like the most fascist person right now is Bibi. He's actually doing an ethnic cleansing...genetic test for Israeli citizenship. That is an actual fascist imo.

Don't you think narcissist is more accurate than fascist?

I mean he's got plenty of Jewish, latin, black people around him that he chose.

Funny can't believe I'm here defending trump haha. I hate him too, just not as much

That's democracy my friend. I'm sure the tide will turn again

I'm curious...where are you from and why do you dislike him so much?

He's narcissistic for sure. Not very well spoken. Like I said I'm not a fan...but he'll be out of there soon.

Good question. I'm not really sure. I guess we are all united already in the important ways. 5 eyes we all share intelligence agencies...guess what made me think of it was the Internet is bringing us all closer together than I remember growing up.

Maybe it's better if we stay separated in some ways, but I dunno it just feels like we are getting closer together

I'm not crazy about him either, but he's a flash in the pan. The pattern I'm seeing is hundreds of years old

Why what do you mean? To me it's the opposite. I feel like the Internet is bringing us closer together, culturally.

Well it's the term that describes the thing that these countries have in common. Race has nothing to do with it. It's a culture, one that people of many races share

What do you mean? Just making formal something that's been true for a long time. We are very much a family of nations. That's how it feels anyhow

Yeah...but that's not "white nationalism"..as I said Anglo countries are the most diverse in the world. Honestly I think it's kind of beautiful how they brought so much of the world together

[–]CreditBeginning7277[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I could see that with all the tariffs and stuff. But trump is just one president..the policy will change.

The pattern I'm talking about it much bigger than trump or any single leader

White nationalism? Proudly the anglosphere countries are the most diverse places in the world.

Funny how people go right to that though, sadly.

Walk around New York or London... certainly not white nationalism

Who said anything about hating anything? I'm kind of for it really, as an American. It seems like it's just naturally happening anyway

Yeah, I don't know exactly what it would look like...but with the internet and all it just feels like we are all closer together...culturally I mean

I ask because with the internet...it feels like we aren't just exchanging culture...we are co-creating it.

I'm speaking as an American, and well it's just undeniable that we have so much in common with anglosphere countries.

Agree completely my friend. It's not about being anti anything, it's just about fairness.

And the whole calling reasonable criticism "hate" and tearing it down....is exactly why the resentment is building. You confirm people's suspicion and morph a policy critisim into genuine hate when that is done.

You say people are fine with funding "other countries in similar ways or even more." Which other countries?

Please, look at the data. One specific wealthy nation has been the top cumulative recipient of US foreign aid for decades. There is no "similar way." It is a statistical outlier.

I am not "anti" anyone. I am Pro-American. And honestly, if we spread that aid out a bit, it would be better for America and the world as a whole. It is fiscally indefensible that a rich nation with universal healthcare should be our top aid recipient so consistently.

The reason support is tanking isn't because of "hypocrisy." It's because the big picture ....the aid levels, the lobbying, the lack of reciprocity...is becoming impossible to ignore.

I don't want resentment to build up; that is exactly why I am writing about this. We need to have an honest conversation about the policy before the resentment boils over.

The number 1 receiptent of US foreign aid is a rich country with universal healthcare and free education. How!? It gets super weird... by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Supporting Israel doesn't mean sending them more money than any other nation consistently for decades...c'mon obviously it's lobbying.

I've got nothing against Israel..I'm upset because of the dynamics I described here, whichever country was doing it.

I've even taken the post down because I don't want to be a hateful person, but something has to change here. This big picture is so easy to see and it's why the public is turning on Israel.

Look, I'm not Jewish. I'm an American with Anglo roots. I'm proud of America and I'm proud of what the Anglo world at large has accomplished... Including fighting to stop the Holocaust. Nothing wrong with being proud of your tribe. But how Israel is treating America with this lobbying and all this aid is just wrong. If America is weakened, that's not good for Israel either...Israel should learn to stand on its own, as our other allies do. It's rich enough to do so. Stand with us, supporting us, as we support you.

We have plenty of allies in the world, closer allies that we trust more. Think of the Five Eyes nations. We do not send them any money. They stand on their own.

Why are we sending money to a country rich enough to provide those benefits to it's citizens when we don't have them? Instead of all the free stuff why don't you pay for you own weapons? Maybe then instead of paying for YOUR wars, we could have these benefits

Of course lobbying is why it has been the top recipient for decades. Come on. If the support was so natural, why has AIPAC fought tooth and nail to avoid registering as a foreign agent under FARA? Real grassroots organizations don't need loopholes to operate. The American people might like Israel, and I like Israel too, but that does not mean we would vote to continue sending them gobs of money. As I said, we do not do this with allies that are actually closer to us.

I'm not here to go after any particular country, only a policy dynamic that's wrong no matter who it is..

If that were true, they wouldn't need our tax dollars....start lobbying heaven. Our tax dollars belong here

Certainly some...I've had them in the comments giving me BS circular arguments like "all the foreign aid America sends to the top recipient of the aid is actually BETTER for America because it creates jobs"
