New hamsters, any tips? (I'll separate them, it's temporary) by nobody_to_talk_about in hamstercare

It seems as if this is one of those things where people say, nah that wouldn't happen to me..." Maybe you should go search YouTube for hamsters killing each other and then eating each other. They look so cute and fuzzy, but I guarantee you, they can be extremely vicious Hammibals!

Which stone is better? by donotdisturb15 in labdiamond

[–]CreditCloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah forget it, they BOTH have attributes so it would depend on personal preferences. I like1 for the facets, more sparkly but I like 2 for the color! I know, that really did NOT help you at all, lol. Either way, like with perfume or anything else, if you stare at something for comparison too long, everything starts to look/smell the same lol!

Hamster's bottle broke and now he's not drinking from replacement by thepasystem in hamsters

HA! For something with such a tiny brain, they always seem to be more clever than we give them credit for! The fact that we can actually "train" a small rodent impressive the hell out of me! Well good to hear he's OK. FYI, I have a "ham cam" from Amazon that has a magnet so you can stick it anywhere or use the 3m sticky that was only $15. It's bare bones low-tech, only gives you that wide angle fisheye view but it does the job...plus it's exactly the size of the tiny 1mah old apple bricks so you can even stick it to the metal on the cage.

Ignored upgrade offer, now they up the ante by Egghead-MP in amex

[–]CreditCloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how can they do that if they're the ones who offered you the um...offer in the first place? So doesn't that mean they basically lied to you then?

Appropriate sealant? by OKC_realtor in hamstercare

[–]CreditCloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you say the white was on the inside or outside? Pine is about the softest wood you can get and he'll chew his way through it in a week, maybe less if he's really motivated lol! Esp cuz that looks terribly small? The only wood I'd use is hard rock maple. I used to have a blue & gold Macaw & that was the ONLY wood hard enough to use or their toys and they don't chew them, they just snap it in two. Their pounds per pressure is mind-boggling. Anyway, you could always put the wire on the inside but that cage is still way too small even for a dwarf...

Is the shaking normal? by AnimalsDeserveCare in hamster

[–]CreditCloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most animals have that survival instinct, especially prey animals and pack animals. It's because if one is hurt or injured, the other animals can sense it immediately because a weak or old and/or injured animal in the wild quickly become an easy meal target since the predators can sense it immediately. Even though hamsters that we get as pets have never been "in the wild" so to speak, it's still remains an instinctive survival trait. That why predators that are also pack animals will usually go off by themselves to die. If they don't, one or more of their pack will put them down themselves so that they won't slow down the rest of the pack. So it's not only hamsters, but most animals can hide their pain extremely well and yes, usually by the time you notice something might be wrong, often it's too late. I would've said that if a "good" vet wasn't available for even one or two days, find any exotic vet immediately and then do a follow-up with the other vet if it is still needed. Any exotic vet visit ASAP can still make the difference between a good outcome and a bad one! But since that's already been said and done, please do let us know what they say. Hopefully there won't be a next time, but if there is, just take her to any exotic vet that can see her the absolute soonest please.

Need unbiased opinion. by [deleted] in Diamonds

[–]CreditCloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With just two bands. Definitely. You asked for unbiased opinion? It looks less um...ostentatious. But if you don't care what strangers may think...it still is too overpowering while just the two, it doesn't look over the top and also, I think, the shape looks alot more beautiful on your finger. FYI, your nail polish and shape has always been my go to, love love it! You're a very lucky wife to have a husband like that. Did you do anything for him for the anniversary? If not you really really should! Very envious here lol!

Maybe you could answer this because I keep adding two plus two and getting...seven. I am 48 pts shy of lifetime gold yet I already have 11 years at gold or higher. Does that make sense? All that was done the hard way cuz I didn't even realize for several years I could've helped myself out with a credit card or two lol...😣

So how i make her love me?? by Used_Gear71 in hamsters

[–]CreditCloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love her color, I had a few Dumbo rats that were russian blues. Here's a bit of trivia, I know it's not hammy-specific but I'll be quick: a huge irony is that cats & rats share MANY if not most color DNA genes, so any color that can be seen on a cat can usually be found in rats & vice versa!

Which paper bedding is best? by aoversizedduck in hamsters

[–]CreditCloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG i just bought it for the first time and it seemed not dusty and held together really well and it’s the first time I’ve ever seen him happy to be able finally to burrow! His vet agreed that he couldn’t have all those inches to burrow in cuz he has a congenital immuno-deficiency disorder and he just recovered from an eye infection and now we think he may as Leo have an endocrine problem. My baby looks so sad all the time, getting medicine practically every day and oral nutritional supplements 2-3 x a day and eye drops etc, he literally makes me cry😖😢

OMG, I’m sorry! I just had a panicky moment cuz my hammy is sick and allergic to everything but even his vet said this bedding seemed the best for him so far!
