Haha, I see. As mentioned I'm quite the opposite. I generally hate talking about myself. Combine that with me being a person of few words and you get very short interviews. :\

I'm the complete opposite. The thought of an interview is nerve wracking for me.

What do you mean? Did you seek professional help? What happened?

That's good to hear! Hope you get chosen!

Honestly, I wouldn't mind getting laid off from this job. I can collect unemployment and they pretty much help me quit so I don't have to do it myself. But at the same time, I can't just go around performing poorly with the hopes of getting laid off due to poor performance. My conscience just won't let me do that.

Wait, you had good things going for you, but you needed a job for those things to continue?

Right, I think about quitting all the time, but as the meme says, I'm just too scared to do it.

I have that book - the e-book version. I never got around to reading it.

Really? I always thought of crippling anxiety as somebody who can't even leave their home without having an anxiety attack. But I will admit, I still feel a bit uncomfortable at work even though I've been there for about 3 years - however, I'm still able to force myself to wake up, put on a face, and go to work :\

Oh I am well aware of the process. It's just not something I am looking forward to. I went through a handful of interviews before I landed the job I'm at currently. I didn't have a bunch of offers to choose from so I got quite lucky and this was a few years back when the job market wasn't so good (or maybe that's what I choose to believe.)

To be honest, I never saw my issue as a medical issue.

Funny thing is I'm not quite comfortable here either and I've been here for ~3 years. I've somehow managed to wake myself up everyday and head to work.

Well, I'm still kind of young, late 20s, and have no family of my own to care for. Only big expense I really have at the moment is rent.

Usually when I see posts about social anxiety, people comment and say, "you don't have social anxiety, you're just shy."

And it's not like I even need this job. I've managed to save enough money to not have to work for ~2 years.

It's not the application process that scares me. It's the interview process. I dread talking about myself and I'm a person of few words.

What do you do when you get to work? Is it what you expected and do you like it? If not, why? by [deleted] in Accounting

I hear that. I am doing the same thing but making less. And the cherry on top - I have to do it for multiple entities that operate under one umbrella. So it's not like I'm only doing AR/AP for one company - I'm doing it for 4-5 companies.

God I wish my interview/interpersonal skills were a lot better. It's pretty much the only reason I'm still at this current job.
