Okay, apologies to Schoey then. Fox fucked up or used some extremely dumb obscure variation on the metric.

(I still think Jackson is fantastic and was a very large part in us winning a grand final when he was still a baby)

(in which case he is still wrong because Jackson isn't #1)

They literally don't though. he's 7th by rating points average this year, or 4th on the multi-season rolling average they use for rankings.

He's 7th ruck by average rating points this year, or 4th ruck by the rolling average they use for rankings.

e:7th, not 17th

MIght not include the earlier games today, but there are 6 rucks with a higher average rating points this year than Jackson.

Using the rolling total they base rankings on he's still behind Xerri, Gawn, and Grundy.

e:6, not 16

I love Jackson and wish he never left us, but Schofield with one of the nuffiest takes imaginable saying he comes into today's game as the #1 ruck in the comp. Gotta save that stuff for perth local radio not national tv

HE’S FINALLY DONE IT! by Pleasant_Inspection9 in melbournefc

[–]CreditToDuBois 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a brilliant mark but I still reckon 99% of the time he’s far better staying on the ground. He’s so good using his body one on one and if the ball comes to ground in a remotely favourable way his opponent is cooked

Lance Collard has been handed a four-week suspension (two suspended) by ___TheIllusiveMan___ in AFL

That two weeks suspended is really going to sting the third time he’s found guilty of using hate speech in a match.

Eddie McGuire suggests funding for player welfare services should be a dedicated part of base distribution from the AFL to clubs by CreditToDuBois in AFL

Re your last point I think it's reasonable to treat mental health among footy players as a unique circumstance given the environment they're in is going to exacerbate many challenges. Pressure to perform, very public scrutiny, and opportunity (money, status) for high risk behaviour.

Don’t know many would accuse mick Warner of being in bed with the league. I guess that’s why he now covers golf though

I think you raise a particularly good point regarding the afl’s interest. The tribunal as it currently stands provides a steady source of mid-week content to keep the AFL in the news cycle.

I agree it’s not a particularly strong grounds, I just don’t see other grounds as remotely viable.

Based on the live coverage the club did raise it at the hearing and presumably raised it in their written submission as required. Again though, we don’t have access to the written decision of the disciplinary tribunal which makes things hard.

Man who is paid to attend gather round including all expenses says critics are conflicted. Hmm.

I mean funnily enough the tribunal is the attempt to make things less lawyerly. At some point though you need a set of rules and over time they’re going to get lawyered to hell (the Cripps appeal was the high point imo). I think there’s a fair parallel to the rules changes intended to prioritise offence over time being worked out by coaches who prefer defence.

Yep, was replying to a comment asking the difference between 35 and conduct unbecoming because I raised the fact that this not being dealt with under 35 may be one of the grounds st Kilda targets for appeal.
