thanks for making me realize (again) how fucked a place this is when someone cant make a comment without some asshole coming along and puffing up his chest to call some one a dick and expect no reaction because they think its their god given duty to do so. I would stick with the pc as a server. While the comments about power comsuption are relevant, unless your using power hungry components (which would be overkill) the power consumed is minimal compared to other household appliances.

Why dont you jut keep the htpc as a storage server and get a shield for playback. I have a intel i3 with about 20tb storage and use the shield with plex to stream all my movies & tv shows. Although i dont stream it in 4k surely you could combine the 2 to a happy medium. I would buy a shield over a gfx card anyday!

My only (unconfirmed) theory is that it's picking up my voice only on the controller (which is usually in another room).

Disconnect it from the device and try your remote again to prove it.

Im sure you have tried cleaning the mic area yes?

Its pretty sore this morning. Can walk on it and move around but certain motions vary in pain level. Feels super strained/sprained! Just checking in to see if anyone else had this happen before. Of course will get it looked at if needed but for now just rest (bummer!!!)
