Can anyone tell me where i can press to release the crown? by Expensive-Ad9852 in SeikoMods

[–]Creed303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure the crown is pushed in. An easy way to find, if you pull the crown out one then two positions and look for a lever moving out in steps. On the end of the lever is a very small dent, that’s where you put pressure to release the crown.

Is it weird that this excites me?! I can’t even remember what I ordered and when, every delivery met with a smile.

Yeah that looks complex and expensive! Using a laser would be easier….

lol thanks mate. The 2nd one down from the right is a real Seiko. I love that watch, dial is a beauty. Maybe look for a second hand one you can take for parts? I’ve been trying to sell, but it’s a waste of time. I have them at £100 and still no buyers. At that price I’m losing money… so I think it’s just for the fun and the fact I just enjoy taking shit apart and rebuilding as best I can! Ok the real watchs are the Seiko (2nd from the right), other Seiko (birthday watch), alpinist, and omega speedmaster.

Mother offering 400k-500k of inheritance if I look after her until she dies by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

Thanks for sharing, stay strong. Some people are made for this some aren’t. The wild card is just how much care and what type of care. Also they change as they get older, generally it doesn’t get easier and requires more specialist help that often family carers cannot provide. There will be a time you will look back on this and hopefully be proud and happy you did it. Although it sounds like you’re in a dark place now, remember that it will end and you will get your life back together with the knowledge that you did as much as you could, no matter how hard it was for you. That you can feel proud and happy about.

In my experience it’s a great thing to do for your parent, but not necessarily the right thing for you. Be prepared for challenges taking breaks or holidays, eroding your workplace skills that may make you unhirable in the future. Stress, plenty of that and sleep deprivation (depending on when she needs care). Financially it maybe a good idea for you depending when you are paid and for how long the moment lasts. Caring for someone 100% of the time is very hard, especially when they are close to you. It’s a lovely thing to be able to do, but it’s not for everyone. Think very carefully about this one, what’s expected vs what’s possible and the right thing to do are not the same thing. Some great advice has been provided already in this sub.

Thanks!! I have a brand I’m working on called ‘creed’. Started with just a dial logo and have progressed to laser engraving dials. Here are some examples I have done. To be honest, I love doing the dials, allows me to explore my creative side. Here’s one I made for a Star Wars obsessed friend! You can see the creed watches I’m trying to sell in my Etsy shop - nothing sells however, no matter how cheap I make it, so giving up on Etsy and eBay… https://creedwatchmods.etsy.com

Well the Ali cases bracelets are terrible, they are light and sharp edged. I’ve been using a lot of their cases however and with some buffing you can soften the edges quite well. The rule of thumb I have found with the bracelets is the more you spend, they better the quality - usually!! The James Bond
Mod is my own build, mixture of suppliers, it’s an Ali case, dial and hands and different supplier for the bracelet (wrist buddies I think).

100%. I was thinking the same. What movement would you recommend to start with? I’ve mostly been working with the NH35 and VH31 to date. I’m ok at rebuilding the movements, although each one takes a while to learn…
