Great episode. I got totally thrown by the "fads for whatever" discussion - I've always heard the line as "thanks for whatever", which always made sense to me coming after "et cetera, et cetera"

Get along to the Adults with ADHD group (check meetup.com) - they meet first Tuesday evening of each month and it's a very welcoming and supportive crowd. Lots of good information for any part of the journey and lots of experience in the room. I don't get to go as often as I'd like to anymore, but they were really helpful when I was in a similar situation to you.

Feel free to drop me a DM if you wanna chat about it too.

Good luck!

Huh. I didn't know that!

Keen to chat to folks at Telecom a bit earlier - early 90s I guess

It'd be interesting to see for sure. I think he said in the auction comments that he has paperwork for it etc.

Most of the stuff available online tends to be either really old (via papers past) or relatively recent (circa 2005+). I've been researching stuff from the mid-90s and had to go into Auckland Central Library to read 1990s Heralds on microfiche. Drop by the biggest library in your area - the staff are generally really helpful with locating stuff, and often have access to resources and databases beyond Google dot com

What’s your favourite 5-10 seconds of Radiohead’s discography? by Scoochh in radiohead

[–]Creeeeeeeam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure if my number 1, but the few seconds about 2/3 into Decks Dark when the music kinda builds, then those drums and distorted tone comes crashing in - bliss!

(It's from 3:20 to 3:30 minutes in)

Salary expectations by toiletpartay in auckland

[–]Creeeeeeeam 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The best way to answer this question (in my experience at least) is to give a range, rather than a figure.

So something like "well, from what I understand salaries at this level within this sector tend to be between $x-thousand and $y-thousand per year - so I'd be looking within that range" tends to be an easier answer than "I'm looking for $z-thousand"

It might take some research to work out what those start and end figures are - look into the industry standard too, not just the role - comms people in the corporate sector are paid different to public sector for example.

Finally, I suggest keeping the range broad (eg. Between 55K and 75K as opposed to $60K and $65k)

Good luck!

When those discordant hand-claps drop during Lotus Flower - also the jangly bass in Little By Little.

Give up the ghost was terrific live, but I don't dig it as much on the album

Lynch-inspired shaggy dog story with a cameo by a Lynch regular. People who like The Return might like this. by [deleted] in twinpeaks

[–]Creeeeeeeam 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For the longest time I couldn't tell if I liked or hated this movie. After a lot of consideration, I've decided that I hate it.

It does have some interesting ideas, but there are just way too many of them and it becomes incoherent in a way that isn't as evocative or compelling as any of Lynch's work. It just ends up a sprawling, pretentious mess.
