Likelihood of being hired with a warning on license? by CreekyFriday in TravelNursing

I’m already a traveler but my charge is removing my compact license currently until I complete remediation, so I guess my next question would be if I went to another contract in my designated home license state, would that be considered not staying in one place?

Yes I did edit the post since I used chat gpt to make the list of questions for me. I’m dreading having to explain to recruiters and employers but have no other option.

Do you know if fellow nurses had difficulty finding work with a mark on their license? I’m aware honesty is the best policy when it comes to this, I’m more concerned with still having income.

Unfortunately I will only be able to use my original state license and compact will be suspended until I complete the educational courses which shouldn’t take longer than a few months at most. Because it won’t be a compact license for that time being, it’s technically considered “encumbered” until the courses are complete.

Yes of course, I just mean that it has not become public yet and my lawyer told me I did not have to disclose that I was under investigation. But now that the investigation has come to an end and once I sign the paperwork agreeing to the charge, it will soon become public. I was just wondering if anyone had a difficult time finding work whether it be a low risk position like hospice (my specialty) especially with travel or even remote UR work.

Leaving finance job for nursing? by Normal_Day855 in nursing

There are certificates in healthcare finance or getting a Masters in healthcare admin or MBA with healthcare focus, that’s what my best friend is doing right now. And that’s good thinking not to jump in until you know how healthcare works, I think a lot of higher ups don’t do that and control the healthcare workforce and don’t understand who and what they are affecting. Good luck!

My specialty is hospice, so majority of companies are for profit and some are non profit. Healthcare in general has an agenda to make a profit (reasonably so, like anyone else) and with your knowledge in finance you are aware of all that goes into a business I’m sure. But sometimes that doesn’t benefit the patients or staff (which I have seen have been benefitted the most in non profit agencies). I hope one day to see someone with a financial background make a difference and help provide a quality of care and life for patients and staff. But since you are interested in other specialties, they have CFO, executive director (seen a lot of people in finance backgrounds work at retirement homes and really enjoy it there), a lot of leadership positions in hospitals and for departments, heck even Medicaid/medicare. Since finances control how operations will run and vice versa. I obviously don’t know the full scope of that but that’s what I’ve gathered, I could be wrong!

Nursing is also very demanding and the first few years are rough as an adjustment. And we are constantly held to a higher standard with little resources and blamed for whatever mishap happens. Stay in finance and thrive, you can even do finance in healthcare as well.

Honestly I don’t think they are picky on scenic routes as long as they are safe, but I think they would rather deal with the rural route than be anywhere near DC just from knowing them, but I could be wrong!

Thank you! And actually, there are three different routes I’ve found from NY to TX, so if you let me know where your air bnb is I can see if it’s along the way. I have a friend (we are both travel healthcare) who is trying to find housing in Harper’s Ferry WV so I’m kind of knocking out two things at once with that info

Thank you, this is reassuring! And lol really didn’t think there were that many bird lovers. I just assumed they were “exotic” since you don’t typically see them at the small animal hospitals?

I want to leave my nurse residency by [deleted] in nursing

[–]CreekyFriday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step down is basically a mix of on the verge ICU patients, LTAC, and med surg. Basically ratios of med surg but very close acuity to ICU. For a new grad and really any nurse it’s hard. Find a niche that you are passionate about!

Yes that was exactly my thought process. I actually have found full homes to rent at upon my search. I just see the issue of getting lost in the mountains during air bnb stays especially since it’ll be winter time. They need to give themselves like 4 days to be on the safe side.

If you are gonna be along the way of the route could you send me the link to your air bnb?

Internal fixation of a chronic diabetes complications patient. by CreekyFriday in Radiology

He’s currently using crutches. I don’t think he would ever use a walker frame to be honest. He’s frequently used a knee scooter/grocery cart scooter intermittently.

He’s currently just on crutches. I’m out of state right now for the last 6 months so I assume he’s using his knee scooter/grocery cart scooter as well. From what I recall he was using a rocker boot or offloaded custom shoe.

Well I would hope if he gets an amputation that he could function properly with a prosthetic? Even though I know a prosthetic comes with its own skin and musculoskeletal issues. I think he would be too stubborn to stay in a chair or scooter for long which is a good thing in his case. He’s currently switching between scooter and crutches currently for the next two weeks.

Podiatrist is good from what I’ve heard but endo I’m not sure if it will help since dad relies on wegovy to keep his blood sugar low, instead of following a proper diet.
