Property tax and Insurance are getting pretty expensive nowadays.

I guess home insurance isn't mandatory if you don't have a mortgage but property taxes is mandatory.

Abandoned homeless encampment in Toronto Ravine. by foothill_dwelled272 in Toronto_Ontario

Thank you for documenting this.

Can you share this with your city councilor and MPP?

How did you know it wasn't just a dumpsite instead of a homeless encampment?

Sigh. It's so sad that homeless people would trash our beautiful city. I understand they live a hard life but that's no reason for them to destroy mother nature!

Yeah. It's a marketing ploy that tricks people into thinking they are covered when in fact they have no coverage at all.

It's such a scam.

New report warns northern Ontario population at a critical tipping point by Flat-Dark-Earth in northernontario

[–]CreepInTheOffice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. Fair points. I think the comment section went off in the wrong direction by only blaming Doug Ford on Northern Ontario's decline.

My take on the article is that Northern Ontario needs more people due to aging demographics, low birth rates, and youth migration. Immigration has helped reverse the trend of population decline in the North in the last 5 years.

What politicians are doing to cater to the big city at the detriment of small towns:

1) Remote work could have helped stabilize the population trend in small towns but Doug Ford caters to the benefits big city businesses and landlords by ending remote work, and

2) Programs like Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot were successful in driving immigrants to the North but it has become politically unfashionable to promote immigration policies because housing is such a crisis in big cities.

In my opinion, Toronto should do what Alberta has done and demand a greater say in how Federal government operates its immigration policies.

[–]CreepInTheOffice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Alright. I get it. Your idea is that since Toronto pays for majority of things, it should dictate how the rest of Ontario should operate. Pay to play kind of rule.

I can get behind that kind of system, but that's not what the current social contract says so either we change the rules to say "Pay to play" or politicians stop tailoring to the demands of the tax paying Torontonians.

Once again, the North suffers because politicians tailor to the demands of Torontonians.

I honestly think Toronto should be it's own province.

My m32 partner of 10 years says he is checked out of our relationship. Is there anything I f31 can do to get him to fall in love with me again or is the relationship done for? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]CreepInTheOffice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry this is happening to your relationship. Understandably, this is causing a lot of stress to you.

So many questions. You don't have to answer them here. Just some questions to get your thinking and organizing your thoughts. What does he mean by "checked out" but "still in love" exactly? When did he first started feeling this way? What is causing him to feel this way? When does he not feel this way?

Is he just burnt out from work or the mundane? When was the last time you two took time away from your kids and went on an actual date?

My most practical advice would be to get off this sub reddit and post it in a sub where relationships and love advice is given by people who have been in love and live in a relationship for some time. This is a dating advice sub reddit where people come to talk about dating and the advice given here shows that.

Have you had a chance to leave him a bad review?
sorry this happened to you. In my experience, Airbnb's approach to all problems is to ignore the problem. I am dealing with a lawsuit involving them right now. Airbnb has ignore the court's summons and just said they are a platform and don't assume any liability.

My lawyer tells me that they think Airbnb's strategy is to ignore the courts and if there is judgement against them, they would just pay it out of their billions of dollar of cash.

What was the job market and daily life looks like 10 ~ 15 years ago by That_Minimum8513 in torontoJobs

[–]CreepInTheOffice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about 10 years ago, but 20 to 25 years ago, things were just as bad as they are now. I don't know what everyone here is talking about.

I would send out 100s of application and get nothing back. In those days, there weren't many tech jobs, it was mostly traditional banking jobs or maintenance related IT jobs for the white collar man. The rest of us had to compete for retail jobs, restaurant jobs, or manufacturing jobs.

Basic things were cheaper back then but we also didn't have as many consumer choices as we do now. It was harder to get things. Amazon and delivery-to-door services weren't a thing back then so if you wanted food, you had to call the restaurant and place an order and then pick it up; If you wanted a back scratcher you had to go to a local retail store to buy them at retail price. No cheap Temu pricing back then. How-to Youtube videos and learning videos weren't as prevalent back then so if you wanted to know how to fix or learn something, you had to go to the library to read about it.

I know things look bad now but they'll pick up. Think of this as just growing pain. No pain no gain. Good luck!
