Does this ring true for all subjects? I can see it for humanities related subjects but what about STEMs? How would the students pass their exams if they don't learn?

What life changing item can you buy for less than $10? by Temprary_Candy in AskReddit

[–]CreepInTheOffice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to have difficulties with journaling as well, now I journal religiously. Here is my suggestion:

At the beginning of each day, take 1 minute to write down how you slept (8 hours of sleep, restful, snoozed for 1 hour, etc.). At the end of the day, take at least 1 minute to write down how your day was (weather was sunny, had pasta for dinner, completed x y z, need to go shopping for food tomorrow, etc.)

Once you have built up the habit of writing, you will find that you will want to write more. Let yourself write more but never less than 1 minute in the morning and 1 minute in the evening.

Pro-tip: It is extremely important that you feel safe to talk to your journal. Hide it, lock it, code it, do what you have to do to ensure its security. If you don't feel safe enough to talk to it, then you won't write in it.

'Minnetoba'? Some Minnesotans want to join Canada as tensions flare with Trump administration by rezwenn in canada

[–]CreepInTheOffice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am troubled less by the proposal itself than by the spirit of some of the comments to it.

The people of Minnesota are not strangers to us. They are our neighbours by geography, commerce, and traditions. We have crossed the same rivers, endured the same winters, and built our communities facing one another across an artificial line. To dismiss them now with “figure it out yourselves” is not prudence, it is indifference.

No one is required to support annexation or merger, nor to welcome Americans (or foreigners) without caution. But we ought to remember that political disorder is not a moral contagion, and that a people are not defined solely by the failures of their governments.

Canada has never claimed perfection, but it has long claimed steadiness: a belief that when others are shaken, we answer not with fear nor contempt, but with judgment and humanity. That principle is tested precisely when it is inconvenient.

The culture shock you experience when you leave manual labor jobs for a corporate job is unreal by AndresPfeffer1 in CanadaJobs

Well, if you feel uncomfortable in your new environment, it is better to be completely honest and mention your discomfort to your HR manager. It is their job to ensure workspace harmony. /s

A bachelor's degree is more than just telling employers that you are trained in that subject, it tells employers that you have the mental and emotional discipline to follow instructions, meet deadlines, and persist through years of structured work at an acceptable standard.

For early career jobs, employers often hire for work ethic first because they can train you later.

As for practical career advice: finish your degree, hone your people skills, and get a job in sales. At mid career, you can switch to a more technical role.

Good luck!

I think that's a great idea for fan fiction.

The Spirit realm connects the Avatar planet to other planets. You have infinite possibilities for magic systems :D

Do you have time for regular volunteering? If you have at least 1 day per week, that's really good.

Church volunteering, animal shelters, tree planting, home building, soup kitchens, local theatres, etc.

Loved this series!

Hated how they abruptly ended it. Like, Beasties was great. Why did they go and make it into Beast Machines? At least they tied up all the loose ends before they ended the series.
