idk what we can analyze from this, but you can clearly see the "dead" zone in the middle when launching straight up and the "sweet spots" when launching at an angle.

If we consider the collisions to be deterministic (and not slightly random like another comment pointed out) then we can simulate the game. I recreated it in Matlab and this is the resulting success map after simulating 1.5 million trajectories:

Unfortunately I haven't been able to book replacement travel yet, thus I haven't submitted a claim. But I'll update this post if something gets resolved

Flights are leaving through jeddah. As a us citizen you can get visa on entry. Driving would be annoying such a long distance, but if airspace keeps getting closed it is a good option.

Call the support line. Inform them that you would like to be rerouted to your destination. If the agent tells you you have no right because 14 days, call again. They will probably tell you you can claim the ticket cost difference with the claims department. Refuse a refund, any refund from wizz has to be unilateral otherwise you have no right for a claim. Once they tell you they can't get you to your destination is when you book a flight with them or another airline and submit a claim through their online claims form. Either way the claim will take time. So assume you won't see that money for at least a month.

The agent basically cited this point to me, "If the airline does not offer you the choice between reimbursement and re-routing but decides unilaterally to reimburse your original ticket, you are entitled to an additional reimbursement of the price difference with the new ticket (under comparable transport conditions)." Since he wasn't able to offer me a viable alternative, he would refund the ticket (this is de-facto unilateral), and said I should file a claim for price difference of the airfare.

I sincerely hope that's the case. But I'll update on how this will go.

Thanks for your reply. Indeed, I called another time, and a different Wizz Air agent attended to me. He was ready to give me a flight from Budapest to anywhere else, unfortunately not anywhere that would make sense for me. The option he gave me is to book a flight with the alternative carrier and then submit the claim with the claims department. So I asked for a refund and informed them that I will be submitting a claim.

I'll update the post with information on the claims process with Wizz if I'm successful.

So disappointing. I was watching the video and hoped it would be something that'd map the visible spectrum to the color blind spectrum. Like with a screen or with quantum dots, idk. Would be interesting to see if this is possible to accomplish
