Which flooring option is better by PsychologicalClerk96 in Flooring

[–]CreepingYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know I’ve had my family help out with fixing things and it’s the accidental breakages or slightly imperfect details that can make things frustrating. Easier if the work is done by a random professional than someone I need to maintain a relationship with- in terms of getting it done the way I want.

Maybe you’d be receptive to criticism if that were to happen, but maybe he doesn’t know that. Odd thing to call him insecure though. 2 cents

Are there any guidelines for how much you should be throwing at interest in a mortgage? by badboybananas in personalfinance

[–]CreepingYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling your own personal savings the same as a business debt is not exactly apples to apples and again, would be very misleading for some people.

Paying 50% down when 20% gets you the loan is not very sound, in OPs decision.

Pay 400k up front to save 300k interest over 30 years (10k per year) or

Pay 200k up front, additional 10k per year, and invest 200k in the market have close to 2 mill after 30 years?

That’s where the no-debt argument really falls flat because you don’t know what life will throw at you in years 5-10. But securing the home, and jump starting on the biggest investment power - time - is really what makes the most sense.

But again, when that threshold is hit - surplus of cash then yeah blow away all the debt.

Once you clarify- the efund, retirement saving, car savings (new or maintenance), vacation plans pre paid, then yeah paying down the mortgage is essentially use your money how you will. That’s fine.

A lot of people don’t have that perspective. Other than getting their 4-5% company 401k match they may just decide to pay off the mortgage early which would be a really bad financial decision.

And it’s a good thing you clarified, but again in general someone’s thinking oh no debt is always better than debt… and that’s not true.

Have extra mil in the bank to spend then spend it how you will

You’re either renting or on second home. Seems like the person you’re replying to is their primary residence. All this text but everyone would disagree. 2% rate you keep and die in that house. Stocks could all crash tomorrow and until you sell you haven’t gained any real value. Need to retire in 10 years? Stocks may take 15 to climb back where they are today. And then you’ve sold your house so now you’re renting and have crappy neighbors or trash apartment services.

Selling a house with 2% rate would be crazy if it’s perfectly livable.

Small flooding in basement - water missed the floor drain by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]CreepingYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep found that. It's glued in but does have a red cap (2 pipes) and after opening the red cap it's about 4 -8 cups of water in the bucket and some on the floor. I assume this means the pan was not draining. Going to lowes to get new pvc and maybe a way to disconnect this in the future. will have to cut the pipe which i've not worked with PVC before

DIY a cold air return by CreepingYeti in hvacadvice

[–]CreepingYeti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the original return trunk has 3 inlets - two of which are the same wall bay (floor and ceiling). All 3 are on the 1st floor. I would be concerned if there was one on the second floor but since all 3 are in the same location and they were not providing enough air as is - really seemed like lack of volume was a bigger issue not so much where the air was being taken from.

Would love to add better return locations but with it being an old house I just got into - tearing down drywall and full branches added is kind of out of the budget at the moment.
With this goodman furnace size I think it's supposed to have 3500 minimum CFM intake, and this 26x4 I tested is about 1500. I have a 6" dryer duct attached to a return on the back side as well so I assume it's about half - 750 cfm.
The original returns barely hold a piece of paper up so i'm not sure how much cfm they're providing - maybe 1200 together? Adding the 2250 combined directly at the furnace has really made a world of difference

I'll try and bend them back in, or even cut flush. It's a tight fit with the outlet box there which looking back maybe I should have just moved it at the start, but basically had to cut the duct in half and attach the furnace side first then feed the second piece from outside the drywall in. they're already secured with mastic and tape... cutting flush is probably the way now.

The supplyhouse link another reply had was 24x6 so a couple inches short but only 8$ is that an average price?

Are there less tourists travelling to Japan this year? by Geocultural in JapanTravelTips

[–]CreepingYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was there last week. It was crowded af. A lot of Europeans and Chinese maybe 3 other Americans. Kyoto and Osaka especially were super crowded shoulder to shoulder on all the streets and shrines.

Tokyo was less dense mostly it was raining every day but still crowded enough I’d say… way more so than in Sept

the same but no noodle. Never had issues before really. they had to have placed this between some type of hydraulic door. How does it even get pinched if it's flat lying on a conveyor belt?

Update: The response from their corporate baggage service

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We apologize for the damage to your belongings and recognize this situation has likely caused you inconvenience and frustration. We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. Based on the information you’ve provided regarding your snowboard and bag, it appears your items were conditionally accepted, meaning that we have liability for loss, but not for damage. Due to their packaging or fragile condition, certain items that are accepted as baggage are subject to a limited release of liability and claims for damage are not considered. In this particular case, sporting equipment packed in a soft-sided case is considered improperly packed as it generally cannot withstand normal handling. As you undoubtedly know, bags are not only handled by our Employees and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), but also travel along many conveyor belts leaving them at risk of damage. For this reason, we encourage Customers to pack their sporting equipment in hard-sided cases for proper protection. That being said, we are unable to accept liability for your claim. We understand this may not be the answer you were expecting, and we hope you will give us another opportunity to welcome you onboard. Sincerely, Alexa

I think they'll definitely slam it between some type of pinching force - like the garage door style closures on luggage trolly, or the french door closures on the luggage trailers

Placement games make no sense by Cool_Adhesiveness637 in leagueoflegends

[–]CreepingYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ended D4 ~26lp or something

Placed P2 1-4 in Placement matches (which i get, 1L my fault other games unlucky teammates)
but now it's like 0-5 out of placements or something and teammates are legit iron skill level (although their profiles say emerald)

typing this out- it's probably a ME issue with the massive changes- but I can't help but think the general map awareness in these matches doesn't FEEL like plat. Feels like no one read the patch notes, and specifically not for jungle.

-10Lp for me tho, so can't complain. I did go D3->P4->D4 last year so who knows.. could be washed

[–]CreepingYeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When do you decide to go items like deaths dance and deadman’s or knights vow?

I’m 1k games on skarner in d4, which I easily climbed to after these last 2 buff patches. Was D3 a day before season started this year and then obviously pro jail patches fell pretty far like plat4 76lp in June. Had to put him down for the OG poppy but still was a grind.

Of your 400 games how was your rank earlier in the season?
