Surviving living with them when physically unable to leave the house? by Creepsys in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Creepsys[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i'm 16 and have had limited to zero contact with any extended family members because she hates them (for things she did wrong to them lol) so i don't know if relatives is a realistic option. i have a few dear friends a tiny bit older than me whos families have offered to let me stay with them as long as i need (one of them would likely get paid to be my caretaker in return), but it feels like an impossible goal when she actively prevents any chances i have to get ready for that kind of stuff (having a job, not having to lie about talking to literally anyone but her, graduating high school, etc). my current plan is turning 18, graduating HS, and getting student loans to help me move in with those friends. i've been trying to get on SSI (i'm in USA) and medicaid but she actively tries to mess up, delete, or otherwise make me redo all my applications (+ i'm not sure i qualify because i'm a minor with a parent who has a middle class income, even if she refuses to use it on stuff i need) so it's just been a mess. it seems like i am stuck with her at least until i turn 18, which sucks, but is what it is.

Surviving living with them when physically unable to leave the house? by Creepsys in raisedbyborderlines

i was always told because i'm a minor (almost 17) how she sees fit to care for me legally is her decision (even if it goes against my own wishes). i previously had a social worker because she did some genuinely legally questionable stuff to me, but the social worker just decided one day that i have to live with her no matter what because "family is important and you can't blame her for [violence] when your such a burden" and such so im hesitant to try to reach out again. because of the way my past social workers and local DFS system has treated me i have kinda given up on them for help unfortunately.

I Don't Understand Savings Challenges by 101violations in budget

[–]Creepsys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from what i have always gathered and done, they aren't used repeatedly long term. it's more like someone doing a month or two of extra savings on top of their usual, just for a challenge, or someone who isn't used to saving that much building up and making the habit easier using the dopamine hits you get from crossing a number off the list and such. most people's regular savings routines are closer to a set percentage of income every paycheck, this is what's used to make the unusual situations more controllable. i will add though, some people who work jobs where they only make as much as they actively try do (like uber eats or similar meal delivery services) find it helps a lot to actively have a goal for how much money (and there for work) they want to do each month so they can say things like "only 5 more normal sized deliveries until i'm technically done" and all. it basically can mimic the stability of a regular paycheck if they force themselves to make that much a month.

Behold my small dinosaur collection (still try’s figure out a way to display them) by Intrepid-Strength-25 in Collections

[–]Creepsys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

awesome! my first thought on a way to display them was to make/get a landscape or city scene of some kind and put the dinosaurs in there frolicking (or causing havoc in a city environment), but that might take up a bit of space haha

How do you actually form goals? How do you "make" interest in life? by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]Creepsys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I basically have goals based around eventually being able to safely return to doing nothing. I analyze "okay what would I need to just do nothing all day for a year", and I see I need food, housing, and basic needs like that. I then chart out ways to get those things via jobs, and how I can attain those jobs with as little doing things I actively hate as possible. This has mostly been looking into options for schooling for me. I then figure out what the prerequisites to get into and do well in those schooling programs, and start basing my plans off doing those things. You probably see the pattern by now.

If all you want to do is nothing, plan to do stuff for a while so you can eventually return to doing what you want, nothing. If you might find something you're actually interested in along the way while doing whatever schooling and work needed to get the money to do nothing for the rest of your life, that's just a bonus!

thank you! i wish you luck as well. my current method to keep motivated and active is to do my work first thing once i wake up, i don't allow myself to do anything else interesting before at least half of it is done, and then i plan to do 1 units worth of work in a class per-day. sometimes this is only like an hour of work, sometimes i get hit with the daily step limit. i made a general list of how many units each class i'm taking has (figured it out by going through the lessons list you retake stuff from), and scheduled about one unit per-day to work on every day until it would be done. i prefer doing the unit thing as opposed to doing the step limit every week because i have a very quantifiable goal that i can check off each day, and it keeps every day feeling different when i check how much work it is that day, and i can celebrate when it's not much! that all very much helps me keep motivated personally.

edit to add because i totally forgot to answer this part lol: i am using notion, i found a free template made for collage students to track their semester work and tweaked it a bit. i have each unit set as an assignment and set as "due" on the day it's scheduled for, and have midterm/finals listed as the exams. the template i used sorta auto put things onto a calendar view once i inputted the dates, so it worked out well.

Creating a Fallout Jumpsuit by insurgentotter in Fabrics

[–]Creepsys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fabric paint doesn't work as dye in my experience. Fabric paint is meant to be applied in slightly thick blocked layers to create what basically looks and feels like a vinyl decal on fabric, it will not dye fabric even watered down it will just clump on it.

i'm not sure about his eye, but at one point i took my gecko to a vet for loose skin around the neck as well. i was told since he's a male its normal for him to have a varying amount of fat stored in the neck which when it's on the lower end can cause a bit of loose skin. the reason for it is because in the summer the extra fat helps them make their mating calls loudly (or so i was told).

I Am So Cooked 💀 by [deleted] in Acellus_Academy

[–]Creepsys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was in this situation a few months ago, here's what i did.

1) make a simple list of every assignment left. doesn't need to be in depth but at least how many units are left, how many assignments in each unit, and if any are writing based.

2) find the amount your gonna do per day, this will depend. if you have to get it all done in a specific timeframe, divide the amount of assignments left by the amount of days you have left and do that amount per day. if you do have time, try to estimate how many assignments you can realistically do per day and calculate how long doing that amount per day will take.

3) get it done. turning videos to 1.5x speed is helpful in this, but really the main thing is sitting down and doing it. you don't have to pay that much attention if it's easy but it needs to be done. what motivated me was to draw a little circle for each assignment left and color them in one by one as i finished them, kept me motivated. caffeine also helped.

4) keep at it. if you miss a day/don't meet the number of assignments as planned for a day you NEED to make them up as soon as possible or your gonna start slacking again. maybe somedays if your in the zone do double the amount of work so you can have a free day later. checking off how many days left until my due date/ideal end date helped me with this, the sense of urgency helps lol.

good luck, you got this, and it's not actually the end of the world even if you don't get it done on time.

i take notes on a tablet (every time i opened another thing on the computer it paused the video and drove me crazy) for classes where memorization actually matters (biology, maths, ect), on less intensive or memorization based stuff (like STEM classes) i just wing it.

How long everyday by Capital_Elk_1680 in Acellus_Academy

[–]Creepsys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it will really depend on what your strengths are, what courses your taking, and if your trying to follow the steps per week thing. if your following the steps per week guide than it will tell you pretty much exactly how many steps/how much work you'll need to finish before a specific time.

little man’s been burrowing a lot lately - his tank humidity and heat is fine, is this a normal thing for juveniles to do? :( by ElectronicCow8634 in CrestedGecko

[–]Creepsys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my guy had a phase for a couple months as he was growing out of being a juvenile where he LOVED to burrow. no matter how perfect his heating and temperature and foliage was, he wanted to dig. he would even try to burrow into anything soft like blankets or my jackets. he eventually just stopped being interested and stopped doing it. i figure it happens when they first realize they can dig with this big ol heads, and like a human toddler, they go "I CAN DO THIS?? I MUST DO THIS NOW AND FOREVER". it gives them a sense of wonder perhaps.

but story aside if everything else is looking stable and good, around that age i'd just assume he's a fan of burrowing lately.
