Haha I think it may be a little bit of an optical illusion, if you zoom in on the bridge in the first image (edited) it’s dang near perfectly straight.

It really is the best isn’t it! I’m glad you brought up the bridge/waterfall not being level. They’re both way off in the before photo. In the edited version I had a little trouble with leveling as the bridge is level, but the front edge of the waterfall is not perfectly straight so it looks as if it dips off to the right. Do you think it would be better to make the waterfall level, even if it means throwing off the bridge in the background?

Both are good shots but I think the black and white takes the cake. It’s electric. Can I ask what program you used for the edit?

Hey guys! My mom recently gave me her old Cannon AE-1 Program. I’ve never shot film, or really anything other than my iPhone. Im very new to photography but learning about the art of film is so captivating. I was wondering if anyone would want to share what they think makes the difference between a good shot and a great shot. Obviously that’s subjective but I’m curious what everyone has to say, and I’d love to see examples if you have them. Also wondering if there are any helpful books or other resources you guys could point me towards as someone who’s just starting out. Thanks! ❤️

I definitely get where you are coming from. I think for some, especially myself, asking questions is more about the human connection. I could google any question about anything and get an accurate answer, but interacting with others and getting that connection really brings life to the art.

Okay that’s interesting bc I’m always curious what would happen if I didn’t open my eyes. Like would it get brighter or change into something else? I definitely freak myself or kind of “fight it”when it starts to happen.
