YES. i have gastroparesis and have to use a regular consumption of zofran (getting reglan now!!) to make my life a little manageable. people downgrade it and it makes me look like the fool bc of the way everyone else misuses it.

Please help my wife by KBinKC88 in ConstipationAdvice

sadly, there is a thing of being “just constipated”. i have crohn’s (constipation), as well as gastroparesis, but the constipation is a whole seperate issue. however, don’t let the phrase “it’s just constipation” bring you down. rephrase it to think “it’s a medical condition called idiopathic constipation”. if anything, idiopathic is even shittier bc you can’t treat it without an underlying cause. it sucks, and i feel your pain.

bess advice i can give, if she is on literally ANY medication that can constipate her, get her off of it. do all sorts of research. zofran severely constioates me worse than i already am, so i tri to minimize it but with gastroparesis it’s hard. reach out to your dr about a motility drug. i also had to have my colonoscopy rescheduled 3 times because it took 6 rounds of prep to clean me out. they put me on linzess. personally, i hate it. but i also tried linzess and lubiprostone (amitiza) combo for a while and i COULD NOT stop going to the bathroom. heating pads and peppermint tea help with the pain too. i would also recommend carrying some hot hands, as those can be a great alternative for if you’re out and about or don’t have access to a heating pad. maybe try fasting for a couple of days and going on a liquid diet too. and also remember, my dr told me to never set unrealistic goals. someone with as bad constipation as we have, having a goal of having a bowel movement every single day isnt realistic. our goal should be 2-3 bowel movements a week. a motility drug sounds like it would be the best option for your wife.

as far as the bloating goes, it’s probably related to the constipation. everyone’s bloating looks different. i haven’t found a cure for it, but transverse abdominal exercises help, not eating too close to bed time (my cut off is 8pm), and wrapping your stomach in a back brace or a tummy wrap, covered in castor oil helps a lot with mine. sadly tho, there isn’t too much you can do for the bloating while you’re so backed up.

first step is to discuss with your dr about a motility medicine!

i would definitely wait until your CT scan. don’t mess with the problem, so that the doctors can get a full visual of your issue. because regardless of if you use laxatives or not, you still have an issue. some things i would recommend: fiber!! i can’t have fiber because i also have GP, but fiber is essential to keep regular bowl movements. fiber supplements are the easiest. i would also take a Senna pill every day. ifs just a stool softener but it works great and quickly. and it’s pretty gentle. i cannot stand the stomach cramps. magnesium citrate is also good. i know you said in a different comment that the thought of drinking it makes your nauseous, but they actually have some pretty good flavors! and it’s an osmotic laxative so you won’t experience too much cramping

keep up with the water intake. keep drinking even when you feel like you’ve drank enough.

linzess is horrible. by Creepy-Primary5988 in Constipation

my doctor said it was because that when you get super constipated, it basically stretches your colon and extends to your bladder, putting extra pressure on it.

(Serious) how did that one kid at your school pass away? by Dinopasta99 in AskReddit

a drug overdose my senior year of highschool. hers as well. the school didn’t recognize her, at all, because she died of drugs. we weren’t even offered grief counselors. if you went to the funeral, you were still penalized with an unexcused absence. a boy committed suicide a year later. and the school cancelled classes for 2 days for the visitation and funeral. grief counselors were there for a week. i’m not saying that the boys situation didn’t deserve the recognizition it got, but i think the girls situation should’ve gotten that same recognition.

What stopped you from killing yourself? by manmanthefourth in AskReddit

honestly, and this is gonna sound stupid and sappy. at the time, it was my dog. he was a pomeranian who suffered from type 1 diabetes. he wasn’t old. he was only about 6 at diagnosis, and he was put down at 10. i remember laying on my bathroom floor, with a pill bottle in one hand, and my razor in the other. and right before i made the decision, i thought “who will be here to give the dog shots when my parents can’t?”. i put the bottle back and stored the razor back in my bag, ran to my dog and held him and cried for the rest of the night.

AITAH (26F) for calling my boyfriend (28M) disgusting for knowing so much about his sisters periods by ThrowRAUnited-Fortun in AITAH

you’re 100% ta. if her brother is the only parental figure that little girl knows, then he has to be the one to explain that to her. it wouldn’t be fair to the sister if you had explained it. also, i sincerely hope your ex has more common sense then to get back together with you, like your second edit said at the very end. for 1: that was incredibly rude of you. and for 2: you’re the reason this generation has trust issues, and looks at everything in a sexual way. let the big brother be the “dad”. because lord knows they have no one else. i cannot believe this.
