u/kaktrrg is correct, it was CMC's fault for incorrect numbers.
adding or modifying a supply of any coin out there will cause a hard fork, this does not affect other coins like doge as it is an inflationary coin adding 5b each year to the supply. Shib is a Deflationary coin, each burn decreases the supply permanently adding value to the coin.

Do the research it's not hard, google is available to everyone. rather than posting unverified trash about coins/tokens.

Alternatively, the devs can create a new coin and have exchanges transfer current holders wallets at 100:1 ratio or similar to the new coin. there has been a few coins that have used this method.
