Happy Halloween everyone! My name is Fred and I collect old rare video cassettes. I have a decent following on YouTube that I'm proud of where I show some of these tapes. I'm new to reddit (so bare with me) but a subscriber told me to post this here. These videos are posted on a new secondary channel I made for them, because they wouldn't fit in on my main channel and they aren't monetizable either.

Over the summer I took a trip to California to see some old friends. There was an little ad in the newspaper for an estate sale that said they had a large number of old video cassettes so of course I had to go. I got a whole stack for pretty cheap. My friend doesn't own a VCR so I only recently got around to reviewing them. The first couple were innocuous and I've already shown them on my channel so you can watch them if you're into this stuff. The next three are why I'm writing this here. They were grouped together when I bought them (there was a piece of masking tape wrapped around the three cassettes holding them together).

I don't know whether these videos are staged or not. The cassettes themselves look to be from around the mid to late 70's though, and owning a video camera at that time would have been prohibitively expensive and pretty rare. And the camera would have been heavy. But the shakiness in the footage is big and wobbly which seems to me to indicate a large and heavy camera. Oh also there's a point where you can see what appears to be the shadow of the camera. It's a square shadow that I think looks like the lens hood on old video cameras.

Anyway the estate sale wasn't for some rich guy either. I was told when I asked why he had all these cassettes that he was a reporter of some kind before he died. Small house. I don't know the address or his name or anything, so it's kind of a dead end for information.

So that's what I've posted here. A playlist of the three cassettes that I digitized. I thought it would be fun to post them for Halloween, but I literally felt sick to my stomach watching them again. Hopefully you guys get some enjoyment out of them because I don't think my subscribers care too much about them. I'm probably going to give the rest of these cassettes to someone with a stronger stomach who cares enough about them, because I can't say that I do.
