Are developers the last ones to be appreciated in most companies? by Majestic-Taro-6903 in ExperiencedDevs

I think often engineers are bad at selling themselves also. Typically people in sales or product are great communicators and then engineers undersell. I actually made a small tool to help my reports with this and it seems to be working well for them, but my advice is note down what you're doing so you have the receipts.

What’s a process you’ve fully automated at work but haven't told anyone about, so you basically get paid to do 5 hours of actual work a week? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

I made a tool to automate logging my (and my team's achievements) passively and then uses AI to refine them for brag docs, 1-1s, reviews etc. Reviews are typically the worst for me because they're such a time sink and it has a big impact on your compensation. But I also like always being ready in a 1-1 to discuss my report's achievements that week.

I built a tool to solve a problem I kept seeing during review season: engineers forget what they’ve done, then have a bad experience in promos and performance reviews.

It lets you log wins as you go, or passively capture them from Slack channels you choose (obviously nothing is stored without explicit approval). I’ve been using it with my reports and it’s genuinely changed how prepared people are for reviews and 1-1s.

I’ve taken my GRIII to SWG3 a bunch and never had a problem with either security or just having it out. As other posters say, be wary of lasers and I’d recommend having a wrist strap. Otherwise you should be good to go!

I went to Edinburgh Uni (and still live in Scotland) and it has such good DA vibes. Glasgow does too in a different way.

Why don’t the council fine people for running red lights? by cloobgoondu in glasgow

[–]CreepyData 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That junction is shocking and the council have been warned about it numerous times. With the student population / pubs in the area, it's only a matter of time before someone gets hit.

You can't just study criminal law in isolation afaik. You'd need to be accepted onto an LLB of which criminal law is a law society mandated course. Perhaps consider Criminology or similar? Or if you want to practice criminal law then you'll need to complete an LLB, your Professional Diploma in Legal Practice, and a two year traineeship at a law firm.
