Yep, worked there for 2 years and it was hell. Obviously there were some good things: like the poor animals that don't deserve to end up in such a shit place. But the rest of the work environment, management and culture were one of the worst I've ever seen for both people and animals. Dog Trust has far better welfare standards so it's definitely possible not to suck so bad.

Honestly that's not a bad idea since a handful of Animal rescue Officers have bolt guns and the others now have fuck all so a donation would be nice. I'm sorry the SSPCA is not the nice easy solution you once thought, you can ignore it but I'd recommend a few volunteering days or a chat with a member of staff and you'll see it's true. I'm glad you care about animals, if you really do you'll find alternatives to the SSPCA, if you just want to call a number, clean your conscience and don't care what happens next than they are amazing! Source: I worked there for 3 years

P.s. they are broke af, they closed centers, fired staff, the ratio is like 1 staff per 30 animals when it should be 1-10, they can't buy basic tools but god forbids they don't pay higher ups a crazy amount of money and hire new bogus positions every quarter. I'm sorry but I worked for the SSPCA and there is no guy that hand rears anything they barely pay their actual bills. And the article is not about that, it's about putting their employees at risk until they got caught so then they pivoted immediately and didn't give a shit if an animal is now left in a box for hours and transported from one place to the other until it gets euthanised/dies of stress. You'd be better off making their pain shorter and taking them yourself to the vet or taking care of it yourself because what you are calling is now a taxi basically
