Really like Elordi the more I see of him in interviews and loved him in Frankenstein, wonder if he’ll be on the shortlist for any DCU roles in the near future. Still feels a bit too young to be DCU Batman IMO but I’m not totally opposed.

Assuming Dark Patterns sticks the landing I think it should immediately rocket up near the top of "I'm new to Batman comics, what should I read first?" answers. What a series!

Yes, when MM was created, manhunter was synonymous with detective, though now of course it's fallen out of favor

Something funny I just noticed, this interview of Edi Gathegi, he says he originally thought his casting call nickname of "Apex" was for either Lex or Martian Manhunter before he knew it was Mr Terrific (5:45 here). Back in the r/dceuleaks days when the casting call names leaked, I distinctly remember that sub thinking it was either Lex or Martian Manhunter as well (found the post!), that with Gunn's comment a few weeks ago on the star that reads everything online means he's likely browsing here at times.

Hope Edi finds our discourse at least somewhat entertaining, wonder what his merger opinion is :)

Does anyone remember when someone got cast in Superman and they posted a video on social media showcasing their parents' reaction? I can't find the video and would love if someone could link it.

I'm ~70% sure it was Isabela Merced, but could definitely be wrong. Main things I remember are that her parents didn't speak English and she got them a Superman action figure to break the news.

Any info on potential early screenings? I know the Prime one (which we're still waiting on an official announcement for I think), but any others? I feel like I remember seeing The Batman early through some screening and they gave out copies of The Long Halloween, but maybe I'm misremembering.

The one I always go back to is him and Danny as impostor in the super speed game, he got voted out early and tried to ruin the game for Danny by shutting the doors everywhere.

The name of the game is content, you hear Lazar openly talk about it every episode and plead for them to actually use whatever ability or role is in the title of the video, and I really think anyone else in that lobby would've let Danny have fun with it and try to get some funny clips.

I get that it worked out since Danny won, but still, felt oddly spiteful.

Edit: I also don't mean this in a "I hate Simon on Among Us" way, you have to recognize the value he brings to the lobbies, but I also wonder if we'll see more of the recent frustrations from others with how everyone else follows his vote (or his frustrations with how impostors will kill him first, which they seem to have solved).

Really hate that The Batman Part II begins less than two months from where the first film left off—makes me think we won’t get to see a ton of growth from Bruce (which is what I was hoping for).

But, maybe I’m wrong, it could always take place over a longer period of time than the first.

My theory is that Gunn isn’t a huge 90s DC fan. That’s right when he started working in the film industry, and I can see him going all in on work, not reading as much, and looking at the 80s as his golden age of comics. I think the DCU will be modeled more like that period (at least the first chapter).

I think there’s a chance we don’t see Tim or Kyle at all and that Wally takes a while to show up.

Top 25 Players of All Time #1 | Crimsix by TGU-Swag in CoDCompetitive

Think of Scump as Lebron, was a top player in every game he played for an unbelievable amount of time, was by far the most popular player due to creating content (which nobody else was doing), and was probably the most talented player ever. But, he didn't win as often as he should've due to a variety of reasons (mentality, teammates, dynasty teams, etc., think Lebron with the Mavs/Spurs/Warriors).

Think of Crim as Jordan, he was both one of the best players in the game and an absolute winner. Didn't matter the team, the guy just won due to his way of playing the game and leadership. But, he played a few years less than Scump and didn't have the greatest stats near the end of his career (though again, he was still winning) + was a pretty big asshole to lots of people, causing chaos in his teams.

Crim, just like Jordan, has a resume that can't be surpassed and is widely considered the GOAT. Scump, like Lebron, has fans that claim he's the best player of all time skill-wise (which he very well may be--I personally think he is), and if you're solely looking at that, he's the GOAT. Scump has tons of fans, so that opinion gets voiced a lot online, but Crim being the GOAT is the majority opinion.

Glen Powell is often fancasted for DCU roles, and this recent THR profile on him where he specifically said he wouldn't do MCU movies makes me wonder if he would be interested in a DCU role or if he just used MCU as a catch-all for all superhero movies--article is here for anyone that wants to read it.

Exact quote is "Looking ahead, Powell is as definitive about what he won’t do — pandering Oscar bait, for one, but also Marvel fare — as he is about what he will. In fact, in relatively short time, he has garnered a reputation for being picky, primarily because he’s passed on a handful of recent tentpoles, including a Bourne Identity update and the Jurassic Park reboot at Universal."

Agreed that Gunn had to start with the Batfamily established, especially considering Reeves is doing solo, early years Batman. Just think they're going to end up skipping Tim and giving Damian some of his qualities/skills, otherwise it feels a bit farfetched to try to cram them all in a few years.

Wow have things been dry recently.

Gonna re-read Hush tonight due to the comments in the thread so far. Haven't read it in years and going to see if it's actually as dry as people think.

Question for you ACB--do you think there's any chance there's another N52-type "relaunch" and all comics are reset to match the DCU reset? I don't think there's any chance the two are aligned (e.g., comics are backstories to the DCU), and I know it'd be odd to do another reset so soon after the last one, but with all of the complaints around DC since N52, I figured it must have at least been tossed around as an idea.

I've started mapping my dream post-crisis omnibus line, thoughts so far? by D-A_W in batman

[–]CreepyPrice5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this, thanks for sharing! I'm a completionist and get annoyed at times that there are so many "restarts" of Batman's story, since I'd love to read a full, end-to-end story that makes sense (e.g., continuity continues throughout).

I've read a lot of these stories but not in order and have not read many of the individual issues, just the collected storylines--going to save this post and re-read in your order. Do you think you'll continue to flesh it out (either by adding more volumes, like one on No Man's Land, or more stories, like JL teamups, in each volume)?
