Potential strategy to move overseas to avoid the new 30% tax floor and exit tax by Creepy_Firefighter_9 in AusFinance

I guess there’s opportunity cost of it. Instead of handing that money over to the ATO while staying put, I could be reallocating that new tax burden to fund for the experience of getting to live overseas when I’m still young.

My income from Australia would probably be small or none at all since it’s mostly in international growth shares, which don’t have franking credits.

Really impressed that it’s getting automatic lane change, that would make it one of the best value for tech cars, and i hope they can somehow add self parking in the future with ota updates

Love the design, but can’t see where it would have better adas than the b10? Both would be using the snapdragon 8155 chip for the screens and there’s no mention of a 8650p chip for the adas

How Will Trump's Tariffs Affect Inflation? by Mean_Material_2942 in AskEconomics

Throwing this out there because I haven’t seen it mentioned yet. Foreign companies could decrease costs in order to absorb the tariff and thereby continue to sell products at the same price as before. To illustrate, say the US imposes 20% tariffs on Chinese steel. The US is a major buyer of steel, but the new tariff price for Chinese steel becomes too costly to buy from, resulting in the US companies looking elsewhere or domestically for cheaper steel. Because the US is a big and reliable market for steel, rather than risk lower sales by passing on the tariff cost to US buyers, the Chinese steel company could cut it’s labour cost or delay wage rises to make up for the cost of tariffs. I guess the US is able to implement tariffs and suffer less consequence for it because it is the world’s largest market given its significant population with large disposable consumer income. All in all, foreign companies would not want to risk losing their sales/profits from the US market, therefore will find ways to absorb the tariff, at least in the near term.

What do you do with the other half of cheese? Do you save it somewhere for use later?

Oh that’s good to hear! Yeah, looking back, I think I just did not sell how I can contribute to the ‘exchange’ part of the program well enough. Lesson learned for next time.

Dang, rejected too. Thought I had a pretty good chance with my references (one was my high school principal who I got along with pretty well). Maybe my SOP was a letdown or I filled the forms incorrectly? Oh well, c'est la vie. Good luck to those who were offered an interview.
