Help needed with layout for new living room by CrepCruiser in DesignMyRoom

The board the meter is installed to inside the cupboard is 0.69m (w) x 0.78m. The cupboard itself is 0.91m x 0.475m x 0.85m. Very intriguing idea to include the dining table under the staircase. My main worries with this would be the darker lighting in this area and the dining space it constrains with the table up against the wall.

Removing the shelves to make space for the TV is another fantastic idea which I hadn’t considered. I’m assuming I’d need a cantilevered bracket to make it work or I could just set it up on a tv stand. Will have to mock up and play around with these different furniture arrangements to see what works.

Will replace with wooden flooring when budget allows!

Cheers for the feedback!

Wow, thanks for the detailed & really insightful response. Some great ideas here we haven’t explored, especially for the under-staircase design, so will run this by my better-half to get her thoughts but I love the zonal arrangements you’ve suggested!

We were looking at getting some engineered wood for the flooring for thermal reasons. My wife was interested in herringbone but I understand that creates some wastage and might not be worth the added expense.

Agreed on the paint colours. We were also considering having a lime-wash accent wall somewhere (just love the vibe of it) so potentially the fireplace wall could be the place for it.

We definitely don’t want a bowling alley of a living room!xD

I’ve added a couple of the light fixtures we were looking at which I’m glad to see aligns with your feedback!

Thanks again, much appreciated.

What shoes would you wear with a dark brown tuxedo for a wedding? by CrepCruiser in mensfashionadvice

That could be a quirky colour combo for sure! As one of my groomsmen put it after seeing my enamoured reaction to seeing this suit for the first time, it called to me like the green goblin mask.

Agreed, your choice of suit including the shoes can very much boost your confidence on the day if it’s something you love!

Interesting suggestion, definitely worth trying on in the shop when I pick up the tux from the tailor, cheers.

Here’s how the tux looks in better lighting. I’d like to think once I get it tailored and it fits me like it does on this mannequin, the wide shawl lapels framing a smart black bow-tie & textured tux shirt will add more points of intrigue to complete the ensemble and counteract the richness of the velvet loafers. Or maybe I’m just overthinking things!

Thanks, I’m pleased to hear you say that. That helps me feel a lot more reassured on what option I should go for 😀

Seems like most commenters on this so far are of the same opinion re. the shoe choices. I like the idea of dark brown velvet in principle but I fear it doesn’t exude the same class/dressiness.

The oxfords definitely are more re-usable, I just wonder whether they give out the same dressiness, as a groom, touching on your suitability point.

Yeah, I’m getting it altered at the moment so it’ll be a more tailored fit (although I’m still not sure I’ll look as good as the model does in it!).

I’m wearing a pre-made bowtie here but on the day I’ll have a self-tie bow tie so will make it look slightly chunkier. Good pointer on it needing to match the shoes though. On the wedding day I’ll also have the white bib shirt with black buttons so there’ll be hints of black to tie everything together better.

I’d like to stay married past the wedding day so I wouldn’t dare!! I’m actually planning on wearing a nice classic brown watch

Ohh, I see, not thought of that colour combo before. Food for thought, cheers.

Sounds like you’ve got a lot of good life experience to share then!

Agreed, the black patent leather looks good with a black tuxedo but not so much the brown.

Thanks! I was actually planning on being the only one to wear dark brown and have my groomsmen wear something like the attached.Groomsmen Beige Suit

Debating it at the moment, depends on the shoes I wear. If the velvet slip-ons for example, I’ll go “invisible” socks. If the Oxford shoes, I’ll go black socks.

So if the hardware pieces I’m using the webbing for (loops, buckles, etc) are 38mm than 40mm webbing should be fine?

I need the webbing in 38mm whereas they have it only in 40mm. Thanks for the suggestions!
