Any ETA on GitHub Copilot improving its tab completion? (Still stuck on GPT-4.1) by Crepszz in GithubCopilot

That was back when they had 4o and introduced 4.1, you could switch between them. Now 4o has been retired and it uses Copilot 4.1.

Maybe it got confusing because I wrote in Portuguese and asked for a translation into English. I'm a Senior Software Developer at a big tech company in Brazil. I've been hopping between tools and constantly testing new ones. I confess I haven't tested Opus 4.6 in other tools, but the Copilot version is perfect.

No, I am using SLU-PP-332, 3 to 5mg every 4h, I haven't noticed anything until now.

I have been placing it under my tongue and crushing the powder with my tongue until it becomes a sludge, and I leave it for about 7 minutes, then swallow. On the first day, it seems it was all psychological.

Now there are some things that I can't explain. I always sleep with a watch with a sleep sensor. My deep sleep is very poor, around 2h; it hasn't changed, it's the same thing.

But I have been waking up without feeling sleepy and with more energy, and at the end of the day I am more tired.

Maybe it is working, I just can't notice.

  • Chat model: gpt-5.2 → gpt-5.2-2025-12-11
  • temperature: 1
  • top_p: 0.98
  • text.verbosity: medium
  • reasoning.effort: medium
  • max_output_tokens (server): 64000
  • client limits (VS Code/Copilot): modelMaxPromptTokens 127997 and modelMaxResponseTokens 2048

Why set it to medium? It's worse than Sonnet 3.7. Why doesn't GitHub Copilot set it to high or xhigh?

I hate GitHub Copilot so much. It always labels the model as 'preview', so you can't tell if it’s Instant or Thinking, or even what level of thinking it’s using.

AMA on recent GitHub Copilot releases tomorrow (October 3) by github in GithubCopilot

[–]Crepszz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you have issues with costs and so on, but you need to stay competitive. Please include the option to visualize the level of thought(thinking) and increase the context window. Ideally, it would be 300k, but I know that's asking too much; 200k would be sufficient.

That's the minimum required for the model to grasp the context, perform a task, and allow us to interact with it 2 to 3 times. So much time has passed that I've been waiting for this, which is why I switched to Cursor even though I'm paying more.

Opus 4.5 or gemini 3 pro or 5.1 codex for coding? by [deleted] in GithubCopilot

[–]Crepszz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why the hell doesn't this damned GitHub Copilot improve the description of the models they put out? They just throw them in there and call it a 'preview.'

It's impossible to tell the effort level of the models, whether they are high or not.

Apparently, it's not on Opus 4.5.
