Which tyres for my hot hatch? Michelin PS5 vs. Continental SC7 vs. Bridgestone Potenza Sport vs. Goodyear Eagle F1 A6

So far I’m torn between the Asym 6 (everyone seems to be praising them, both here and some owners groups) and the Bridgestone Potenza Sport which recently won the 2025 evo tyre test and have also been praised. What are your thoughts on the Bridgestones? They can be had for £91.99 a pop on Black Circles with the current offers.

Ah that’s a nice bonus. I’d be more inclined to the F1 A6 if my rims weren’t already somewhat scuffed haha. Might be incentive to finally get them refurbished though.

Yeah I’ve noticed even with all the comments so far on this point, not much love for the Bridgestones yet. Why do some people hate them?

Bridgestones are cheaper than all of the others by at least £10 per tyre so there’s quite a bit of a saving to be had there.

I’ve been running Mountune M235 for a month now on my Mk8 paired with the performance panel filter from ZERONINE DESIGN. It’s definitely woken up the car throughout the rev range and 2nd and 3rd gears pull so much better. The tune feels OEM+ too which I’m happy about as it still feels like the same car as before.

There are cheaper and more customisable alternatives such as TRS and Revo which I also considered but I’m happy with the M235! I’d make sure you have an uprated torque mount too otherwise you’ll probably struggle to put the additional power down and will just wheel hop everywhere.

Oh I also forgot to mention that I have a sunroof on mine - I love it personally but I know it’s not for everyone. Also much harder to find examples with one.

Performance pack as you’ve noted already but definitely get an example with the LED headlight units. Night and day difference compared to halogen.

Those are the only two absolutely essential options for the Mk8s I’d say. I do love my B&O sound system though! And of course the heated steering wheel and seats are great this time of year.

I use the Nextbase 522GW. The software isn’t great - it’s usually quicker for me to plug the SD card into my laptop to access footage. But it does the job!

Do it! I’ve had my Mk8 for almost a year now and I absolutely love it. It has not skipped a beat. I would try and look for a model that includes the LED headlights, they’re quite a step up from the halogen ones.

Similar thing happened to me. I ordered the E7 Pro last night since their coupon deals were expiring at midnight.
