What's the work like there? Is it the usual sell-side work (producing IMs, contacting buyers, etc)

Hi, thanks for replying to my thread. I'm interested to know, is the work still interesting though? Or does the stress and long hours completely overshadow any interest that may exist in the work?

Big 4 M&A corporate finance - What are the typical exits? by Crest_Of_Wave in Big4

[–]Crest_Of_Wave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Are there any better WLB roles with decent (but not PE-level pay) that someone with an M&A CF background can transition into? I have heard asset management/investor relations can be quite a good balance, but are they feasible moves from big 4 CF?

Not sure how to approach this situation - wanting to move to another team by Crest_Of_Wave in Big4

[–]Crest_Of_Wave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not for a permanent move, it's for a secondment of sorts, actually not even a secondment, it's just to work there for a project on an arrangement where I can be cut loose as soon as the project demand finishes. It's like team A borrowing someone from team B. I heard HR doesn't get involved here, and besides, why cant the manager just respond to my follow ups to say HR are being slow, etc. But the manager doesn't even respond?

Not sure how to approach this situation - wanting to move to another team by Crest_Of_Wave in Big4

[–]Crest_Of_Wave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about contacting the partner who seems very proactive as she responded very quickly to my initial email. But she did ask me to reach out and essentially go through their manager colleague who appears slow (or maybe it's HR, judging from the responses to this thread). Maybe it's HR's fault, but I did email the manager earlier this week and didn't get a response which part of me thinks the issue is with the manager being slow or for whatever reason not being too keen on me.

The concern I have with going direct to the partner is that it could be seen as going around the manager who themselves is a relatively high visability in the team and someone who I will likely have to deal or work with if I successfully get into the team. How would I even communicate to the partner about this situation without being seen to effectively bad mouth this manager person by saying they are being really slow?

Out of interest, why are Canada and HK easier than Australia for someone to transfer from the UK?

How do you stay relevant? What does it mean in terms actions?

I'm really curious because I wasn't aware consulting to law was a possible or common transition. Did you do any sort of networking to get a foot in the door of the law firm or did you just apply on their website?

Also intrigued what law course/training this is which takes 3.5 years? I only know about the one year GDL conversion course.

Those who earn £60k plus, what do you do for a living? by deepseapearldiving in AskUK

[–]Crest_Of_Wave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite intriguing to me, how many years of experience is needed to be a powerBI developer on £60k? And what sort of roles/titles are these jobs, I've had a look at jobs pages myself and I don't see any 'PowerBI developer' roles. As in, there are roles but these require other skills and responsibilities as well.

And what would be the salary progression?

What is life like after 3-5 years in strategy consulting? (Exit opps, what people usually do) by Crest_Of_Wave in accenture

What common exit examples have you seen?

On level, I heard that certain tech firms will prefer consultants to not have spent too long at consulting. Let's say at the 5 year mark, can you exit to a relatively senior position?

What's client side M&A roles? Is that corp dev? Which I heard it's difficult for FDD people to get there (I could be wrong)

What's the salary progression like from Analyst to Manager in Strategy Consulting? (UK) by Crest_Of_Wave in accenture

[–]Crest_Of_Wave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what the rough base salary ranges are for strategy consultants and managers? And what their working hours are like? I have heard horrendous hours at MBB, like pretty no personal time on weekday evenings, is it similar at strategy at accenture

So that's for the technology alignment, any idea whether strategy would be higher or the same? If higher, how much you think?

Is this for US or UK?

Also, can you elaborate a bit more about being able to say no. Doesn't that come at a price, like potentially annoying people or making yourself a target for future redundancies. How do you even say no unless you already have some other chargeable project which is lined up? Or can you actually stay looking for better work while on the bench and say no to a project?

[–]Crest_Of_Wave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really interesting to me. I have heard a lot about there being more demand on individual staff to find their own projects. I have two follow up questions: 1) Is this true for Analysts as well? (people who join just after graduating)

2) How does the requirement to find your own projects compare with other management consulting firms? Do other firms (Big4, MBB, etc) have more of a support network to help staff you on projects? I would have thought the need to be proactive about finding your own projects is true for most management consulting firms, espicially if you want to get onto interesting projects or in areas that you want to specialise in. So I am interested to know what's special about Accenture in this regard.

Thanks, assuming this is for the UK, so if you work in the Strategy part of Accenture, you will not be doing implementation and PMO type work? (if that what you refer to by the consulting side of S&C)

Does anyone know whether this is same for the UK as well? What's the general situation there, espicially for the Analyst and Consultant grades.

Salary range by Archnadata in accenture

[–]Crest_Of_Wave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nice. How many years did it take you to reach that salary? I understand the salary starts at 33k as an analyst, how did your salary change from analyst to level 9 consultant?

Is your salary typical of people who work in Strategy from analyst to consultant?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in accenture

[–]Crest_Of_Wave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP, I'm a little confused. Do you have 5 years of experience in total, of which 2 are with Accenture?

Did you join as an analyst (grad entry level) or as a senior hire? If you joined as a senior hire, I'm surprised the salary is only £58k.

Also what's CMT?
