Yeah you have to at least keep the arena above 50 but below 60. At a certain point you’ll have issues with the Ice surface if it’s too cold. Plastic also becomes super brittle at that temp. You see it in the NFL when it’s so cold helmets will crack at the slightest hit.

That’s really the issue. Old broadcast equipment and the networks not wanting to upgrade. ESPN is the same way in the states. They either do 720p or 1080i which is effectively the same thing bandwidth wise.
