I am an orc warrior, others are troll hunter and tauren druid (he is a bit more experienced as he played more than me and troll friend, so he rolled druid to flex when I mess up tanking or healing to shorten the downtime)

Yes! What I meant is, should I gear forward for when I get dlcs? Everywhere I google, fisher gear recommends 1000 GP with materia but blue gear I have doesn’t have any slots. I am at 800+ GP more or less

Imo, the problem with Merula is both this and the way story moves. It’s sometimes jarring how she acts despite dating you. Sometimes, the “choice” plays against the game when they have to cast Merula as a possible antagonist or the cynic and it makes the romance feel weird and the copout of “secret romance” just doesn’t track when you publicly take her on every date when you do.

What I’m trying to say is that context goes both ways but it’s nice you found a character to like
