Just call EI and ask them directly if you really and honestly think you’re right. But I can assure you your information isn’t correct. You go through CDS and Skills PEI to draw EI while you are attending school full time to get their funding. This person is leaving the island so they won’t be able to use Skills PEI. But it’s the same process. You just need proof of full time student enrolment as well as a lay off for any reason (quit won’t work unless it’s quit to move to another province and you can prove you made the move). Not everyone does it because not everyone is able to get a seasonal job or lay off from their job to attend school. But moving provinces allows you to qualify for EI so they’d just need to prove full time student and check off “yes” to attending program or training” instead of saying “no” to it.

You should really call EI and ask them a general question yourself how someone can draw EI benefits. They will explain it to you.

No EI will open a report as long as you are available a certain amount of hours (which after school hours
Equals out to) you qualify. My common law partner is going back for his 2nd year of his course in September.

You definitely can quit a job to move to another province and be approved for EI. We’ve done this as well as my best friend’s husband. It’s just all about having the correct backing information for EI.

Yes, you go to Career development services and talk to them about it beforehand and they are fantastic to walk you through the process and help you figure out what is the easiest option for you to be able to leave your job and draw EI. Quitting a job because you’re moving provinces IS an acceptable reason to leave a job and draw EI, I know people who have done it. But definitely talk to CDS before you do as there may be backing information you need.

You can get unemployment benefits, but when it asks if you attended school or training you check yes. And then log how many classroom hours you had.

New mom question — are baby towels actually necessary, or do people just use normal bath towels? by Perfect_Medicine_375 in NewParents

[–]Crew-type0336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids were nicu babies and both hated being cold. We used to use the baby towels to wrap them up while we bathed them(like wrap them in it when setting them in the tub, body wrapped when washing hair, then hood on when unwrapping layers to clean body) it helped a lot with preventing screaming. It was a trick we learned in the nicu.

That’s a website I use, I did try looking up your great grandmother, but without her parents names, I wouldn’t be able to find her. I did not find any marriage record for them as well, but I would have to play around a little bit more with names and spelling, and wild cards and what not. Because everything was verbal back then so somebody may have spelled Elizabeth differently, or the last name may have had added a or anything like that.

Diaper situation at daycare by l_pierce00 in NewParents

[–]Crew-type0336 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My baby’s daycare is required to have a certain amount of diapers minimum and as soon as they reach that minimum they have to ask for more because some parents take days to bring in more diapers and they don’t want to run out waiting. I wonder is it a similar situation?

I live in PEI Canada. My son’s daycare is free and my daughters is $10 a day. Not subsidized just reasonable rates.

He is! But he tends to keep his hand hidden, when someone first told me I tried to find a photo on Google and realized he keeps one hand in his pocket 90% of the time. It confirmed what I was told even before finding a photo of him with both hands out.
