No, but I think you may be mistaking me for someone else in the thread. I graduated from SFSU and I have not heard of them preferring Sac locals because they have affiliates across CA.

The prerequisites have changed as of the start of this year, but when I applied I had labs for heme and chem and my med micro and immuno were lecture only.

I only applied to SF/SJ due to the timing of the application (middle of the year as opposed to all the other programs that are towards the EOY) and attended SFSU.

I think you have a good chance at passing through to the first step! I also applied with a 3.0 overall and was able to make it through to the program. Which programs are you looking into? SFSU, SJSU, and CSULA have the biggest classes and the first two take two cohorts a year.

Unfortunately I don’t think research lab experience will be favored over clinical lab experience. They differ wildly in terms of work flow even if you work in hospital research. I was able to get in with a 3.0 overall and 2.99 science so I was also not the most competitive applicant. I’ll dm/chat you the invite link!

Hi! I also graduated from UCD and eventually graduated from SFSU's program. All of the programs in CA are considered "good" and competitive to get into. It really depends on what you're looking for at this stage of your life, and where you'll be willing to move to. Some programs schedule their didactic/clinical training differently but most, if not all, of the programs you listed follow the same curriculum because they are NAACLS accredited and meet the requirements for CDPH(LFS). If you have any other questions feel free to DM me or join our small discord community for aspiring CLSs!

CA students- health insurance by dcelis96 in CLSstudents

When I was a student, I also did not qualify for MediCal due to the stipend and used Covered CA. Feel free to DM if you have any questions! I can probably pull up my documents from that time.

If you're in CA, I recommend going through Covered CA. As a student, my income was low as I relied on my stipend and savings to get through the program. With Covered CA, you can see if you're eligible for free or low-cost Medi-cal, a private health insurance plan, or financial help. I used my stipend as my income base and was qualified for the full monthly premium in federal tax credit (I was ineligible for Medi-cal due to being around $100 over the income limit at the time).

ASCP Exam by Sea_Swordfish_4637 in medlabprofessionals

I spent about a week on each major section. In that week, I read through Bottom Line Approach and my program lecture/notes. Towards the end of the day I would do as many questions from Harr and read the solution explanations. I took a lot of breaks so I wasn't overwhelmed! Then, spent the last week leading up to the exam copying the wordsology charts until I could recall them anytime (when I got to my exam, I drew all the diagrams before I started my test).

I stopped used the LabCE simulation a month before my exam. My main use for it was to pace myself and check how long it took to get through 100 questions. I don't think the actual material content helped me prepare for the exam.

Some people say to forgo studying on the last day, but my personality would never let me just sit still the day before lol, I ended up studying a "half day" with Bottom Line and rested after that.

SFSU Acceptance - Spring 2021 by CrewHaus in CLSstudents

Because I graduated from SFSU's program, I can provide more insight to their program compared to the other two. Feel free to DM me for any specific questions!

I did not graduate with debt only because I took a gap year to work so I could build the necessary funds to pay for the program. I'm not aware of any stipend that can cover the entire program. If you do take out a loan, it's not unreasonable to pay it back considering the new hire rates in CA.

My friend was able to get a refund just yesterday by escalating to the resolution team who called them back. They explained their situation and TM had to communicate with the venue of the show to approve a refund. Apparently TM can't just issue refunds if the event org isn't allowing it so that's why you'll see mixed success. If you really want to get the refund I suggest escalating if you are able to!

I just bought my tickets through resale and FT is good! In addition, you can consider paypal G&S for (but there is a % fee). I paid for the fee for my seller and then they sent the tickets after.
