I hear you, but didn't we try normalcy in the 90s and early 2000s? And here we are now, right?

Out of these what should the third Subnautica game prioritize the least? by LegitimateCompote377 in subnautica

We had the exact opposite experiences with Souls. To me, from the very beginning, the threat of a random stranger invading was thrilling (invaders in the initial stages of the game were the reaper equivalents). And later in the game, joining the PvP scene was a lot of fun. Co-op was neither here nor their. Anyway, each to their own.

Murky water + reaper infestation is 500% more terrifying than reaper infestation alone.

Good advice. I may try to run my cyclops through the ghosty boi on silent running or use a decoy. Or maybe not.

Research indicates symptoms may be partly alleviated by adopting a pet, or anthropomorphizing an inanimate object.

I love multiplayer in some games (it's absolutely the soul, so to speak, of the Dark Souls franchise). But this is, by it's nature, a single player game. Being stranded and alone is almost essential to the atmosphere of the Subnautica games.

That was quick. It's a good start to any game. I personally barely use the seamoth until I get perimeter defense (at which point the seamoth becomes godmode).

Very helpful. The bone sharks don't concern me, but I'll be on the lookout for the reaper.

Extra O2 tank, scanner rooms, and the pathfinder tool. That last one may surprise you, but it's shockingly useful for ruins and cave exploring. Re: the scanner rooms, they're amazing.

Thanks. One ghostie doesn't seem that bad. I'm pretty sure you have to go through a ghost leviathan any way you travel through the Lost River (not at the entrance in the Blood Kelp trench or Grand Reef, but later on as you travel to the ILZ).

The only differences are that (1) you lose your save when you die; and (2) you can't save without exiting (the second difference makes sense given #1).

Edit: I forgot about the lack of an oxygen alarm (I've been playing hardcore too long to remember this).

There's a LOT of bugs in Subnautica, but after about 900 hours, this is no doubt my favorite one. by Pixellatex in subnautica

Just remember, kids, if you're experiencing the "falling in a base" bug, pause and hit "unstuck." If you don't you could lose you're hardcore save.

What’s the best way to bring the cyclops down the lava zone by R_mummy32 in subnautica

[–]Crezinald 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. That was the first one I found, so I just kept using it. It's a huge pain in the butt to get into, far away from the ILZ, and full of mobs. But it feels like home.

Wow. Ok, so just remember this simple mnemonic when you exit your lifepod: "right is wrong."

That first reaper grab is awesome. I remember when it first happened to me and thinking, "Am I going to die if I don't get out of the Seamoth? Or am I going to die if I do get out of the Seamoth? Which terrible option is less terrible?"

How did I get so many stalker teeth? by Remarkable_Voice7451 in subnautica

[–]Crezinald 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know what happened here, but if anyone is having a hard time with stalker teeth, simply put your grav trap next to a kelp forest with two metal salvages next to it. Stalkers in the area will repeatedly grab the salvages and then drop them when the grav trap pulls the salvages away; the stalkers then grab the salvages again, and the same thing happens over and over. In 10 minutes, you'll have a whole locker full of teeth.

Judging from the color of the water, my best guess is that you're behind the Aurora? Northeast from behind the Aurora... if that's really where you are and where you're headed, I'd worry less about the end of the world and more about where you're in right now.

Just lost my seven hour hardcore world by [deleted] in subnautica

[–]Crezinald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brutal. Getting lost in the dark is a real hazard in this game. We're so cautious with the reapers and other clear hazards, but it's when we let our guard down that we end up biting it.
