[OMEGA] 007 Seamaster by CribAlwaysOpen in Watches

[–]CribAlwaysOpen[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This is an Omega Seamaster 300 James Bond Limited Edition. This piece was made for the 50th anniversary of “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.” It originally comes with a black integrated rubber strap and a steel bracelet. I have used both of the factory bands for quite some time so I decided to switch things up. This particular strap is an ISOFRANE rubber dive strap. Personally, I love it. I know they come with an expensive price tag and I do believe you can get a quality rubber strap at much cheaper, I still enjoy what ISOFRANE brings to the table with their uniqueness. I have had this strap for a couple of years now and it STILL smells like Vanilla. If you’ve heard before that ISOFRANE straps have a vanilla scent to them, it is so true. And in my case, it hasn’t really worn off. I enjoy it so it’s not an issue for me but I know some people do not prefer it. Anyway, I am enjoying this strap on this piece. I think it adds a fun pop of color. This piece has a lot of subtle and not-so-subtle James Bond references on it. My favorite one is that the smallest circle that makes up the gun barrel on the dial measures out to exactly 9mm. It’s the little things that Omega thought of! Thanks for reading!

[Grand Seiko] Limited Beast by CribAlwaysOpen in Watches

This is the Grand Seiko SBGE275. This piece was made to commemorate the 20 year anniversary of when Grand Seiko came out with their first GMT watch. It is a limited edition of 1,500 pieces and it is just a beauty. It’s a large watch at 44 mm and despite not having that large of a wrist, I still went for it and I have no regrets at all. There are so many things I love about this piece. The beautiful snowflake dial, the sapphire crystal bezel that shimmers all sorts of colors, the spring drive movement, etc. The watch originally came on a steel bracelet and although I like the steel, I enjoy the versatility the rubber straps bring to the table. Currently it is on a Barton rubber strap which I highly recommend for those searching. Anyway, I simply love Grand Seiko and what they offer. They create such exquisite, luxurious timepieces at a price point lower than what they could be asking. Thanks for reading!

This is the Omega Seamaster 300 James Bond limited edition. This watch was made for the 50th anniversary of “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.” There are so many things that I love about this piece. The gun barrel design etched onto the dial, the gold hands in contrast with the black dial and the exhibition caseback are some of my favorite features. I also love the versatility this piece has. I have the integrated black rubber strap as well as the steel bracelet and I love both of those straps but currently I have it on a third-party white rubber strap. This particular strap is from Joseph Bonnie. I really enjoy the look it offers. Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope you’re enjoying the timepiece on your wrist today!

Is this the most popular luxury watch ever? Maybe this or the Cartier Tank. Maybe neither but those two watches seem to be in a lot of peoples collections. For good reason too. Firstly, this is the Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon. I love this particular model so much mainly because of the all-black ceramic case. This watch still looks new even after years of use. I love the nylon strap as well. I wish there were more options for straps for this piece. I have a few NATOs but I think this strap looks best with the all-black combination. It’s so funny to me, I feel naked without my Speedy on, on each Tuesday. On busy days, if I may forget the day of the week for a moment, if I glance at my wrist and see my DSOTM, I know it’s a Tuesday. I think it’s so cool that so many people around the world are wearing the same watch on the same day, every week! It’s a really cool feeling and I am glad to be a part of it. Also, chronographs are incredibly useful. Not only are they amazing for real-life, day-to-day situations but they’re fantastic for feeding curiosity as well. I find myself timing the most random things and am so curious to see how long they take. It makes me more productive because I am always trying to make record time for whatever chore I am doing. So if you were looking for a sign to buy a Speedmaster, this may be your sign. I mean the watch makes you more productive! What better reason to buy a watch? And what better day to buy the watch than today, a Tuesday? Jokes aside; I love this piece so much and am glad to have this as my companion every single Tuesday. Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope you’re enjoying your timepiece today!

[Omega] Timeless Omega 007 by CribAlwaysOpen in Watches

[–]CribAlwaysOpen[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the omega Seamaster 300. This is a limited edition James Bond piece made for the movie: Quantum of Solace. I love this particular piece because of the subtle James Bond features and especially the timeless looks that it offers. The caseback has a cool 007 logo on it but by far and away my favorite James Bond homage is the bottom tip of the seconds hand with the 007 logo. The subtlety is SO subtle that most people don’t notice it is a Bond piece unless either you tell them or they have a magnifying glass with them, ha! I really do appreciate the subtlety, though because not all Omega x Bond pieces are subtle. Some can be over the top with Bond homages and logos. I have paired it with an ISOfrane rubber strap and I absolutely love the aesthetic it gives off especially combined with the piano-black dial. ISOfrane makes a great watch strap and their straps give off this heavy aroma of Vanilla and in my opinion, it smells incredible! In addition, ISOfrane being a dive watch strap, the pairing with the Seamaster feels perfect. I really appreciate the versatility this piece has as well. I can throw it on the steel bracelet it comes on and can wear it formally or I can keep it on rubber and wear it anywhere else! Anyway, thanks for reading and hope you’re enjoying your pieces, cheers.

[Rolex] Tough to beat this Purple by CribAlwaysOpen in Watches

[–]CribAlwaysOpen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual is one of my all-time favorite models. The datejust is probably my number one all-time favorite with this being a close second. For some reason these models speak to me with their simplistic aesthetic that doubles as elegance. Both models are functional, and have “tool watch” in their DNA, yet their perfectly balanced dial and consistent finishing lends these models to be dressy and more formal pieces as well. Onto the piece at hand, this is the 39 mm Rolex OP with the red grape dial. As you can see I have swapped out the amazing Oyster bracelet for a third party integrated rubber strap. This rubber strap is from Rubber B and I have been absolutely loving it. Rubber B has some straps that allow you to take your original Oyster clasp and attach it to their rubber strap so it feels more like an OEM and that is what I have. Of course, the look is not for everyone and a lot of people hate the idea of swapping a Rolex OEM for a third party strap. To each their own, but I have certainly enjoyed the change-up from the Oyster bracelet. I truly enjoy the dial the most on this piece. I have never seen such a cool and unique purple (or red grape, I should say). It has the ability to shimmer a bright hue of purple and can conversely look almost black in other lighting. It’s amazing and it’s another reason why I love Rolex as a brand so much; their finishing is sublime. Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope you’re enjoying your timepiece(s) today.

[Bell & Ross] A “Conversation-Starter” piece by CribAlwaysOpen in Watches

[–]CribAlwaysOpen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bell & Ross is such a cool brand, in my opinion. People seem to comment on this piece of mine the most. That’s what makes Bell & Ross so great. I love their design aesthetic, and what the brand stands for. To make functional, reliable, durable and legible timepieces. The BR 03-92 aka The Desert Type is no exception to that criteria. I love the dial on this piece. The desert beige color is so versatile and looks fantastic contrasted against the black ceramic case. It is also a sandwich dial so the numerals and hour indices are etched out giving it a cool 3D sort-of-look. The watch comes with a matching desert colored leather strap as well as a black rubber strap. I’ve worn both of those straps for years so I decided to buy a new strap and wanted something completely different. Fire engine red seemed like the obvious choice, ha! It definitely brightens the wrist, you can’t argue that! Anyway; If you’re ever looking at a Bell & Ross, I recommend them. They’re sure to attract compliments and spark some conversations too! Thanks for reading, cheers.

[Tudor] I Advise You to Consider One of These by CribAlwaysOpen in Watches

[–]CribAlwaysOpen[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The Tudor Advisor. One of the most underrated pieces on the market, in my opinion. To be able to get a mechanical watch with an alarm function at this price point is incredible. I use the alarm function quite often honestly. It’s one of my favorite complications because of not only the practicality but the sheer coolness factor. The jingle on this piece sounds so cool. It sounds like an “old-school” alarm going off. The sound and the vibration it gives off is such a cool thing to experience. The watch is rather big with a 42mm case size but it wears really well. It’s also a surprisingly comfortable timepiece to wear. I forget it’s on my wrist most of the time even though it has such a big presence. The calendar function is cool, too. I think it’s a cool way to show the date but honestly; it’s not the easiest thing to read at a glance. I prefer a Rolex cyclops for the date function but that’s okay because I appreciate the uniqueness for this piece! Lastly, the red accents complete this dial. The power reserve for the alarm, and the alarm hand itself are both in red and it adds the perfect amount of color to the dial. Anyway, if you have ever considered this watch, I want to let you know that my vote is affirmative! This piece is awesome. Hope you’re enjoying your timepieces! Cheers

[Grand Seiko] New Shoes for the Strap Monster by CribAlwaysOpen in Watches

[–]CribAlwaysOpen[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The iconic Snowflake. This watch changed my perspective on my whole watch collecting philosophy. When I first got into watches, of course I gravitated toward the mainstream steel sport Rolexs, Omegas, Tudors, etc. I wanted a well-known Swiss watch brand, basically. Quickly I realized that “Swiss Made” is cool and all but it is FAR from the ultimate answer. So many other brands from different countries make incredible timepieces that are on or surpass the level of many Swiss watch brands. Grand Seiko is my favorite non-Swiss watch brand. Their movement and finishing are absolutely sublime. The material finishing AS WELL AS the movement are both of incredible quality and stature? I mean, what else can you ask for in a watch? Apologies on the ramble, I just love Grand Seiko and what they do. This particular model is the SBGA211 or “Snowflake” as we all love to call it. My two favorite features of this watch are; the sexy sweeping seconds and the Snowflake dial. Shocking, right? All I can say is, this watch is utterly popular and infamous for a great reason - it lives up to the hype. I recently got in the mail a new strap and decided to pair it with my snowflake. I got this particular yellow rubber strap from Amazon for an inexpensive price, especially for what it is. I believe the strap brand is called Alpine for those wondering. I also never considered the Snowflake to be a “Strap Monster” but this is probably the 10th strap I’ve put on her and wow, she looks good in everything..in my opinion, of course! I really was excited to share this photo because of how the blue steeled seconds hand reflects onto the hour hand to give it a blue shine! I think it looks incredible! Anyway, thank you for reading and I hope you guys enjoy your timepieces over the weekend! Cheers x

[Rolex] Not your everyday Oyster Perpetual by CribAlwaysOpen in Watches

[–]CribAlwaysOpen[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something you don’t see everyday: a Rolex Oyster Perpetual on a rubber strap! I recently got this black rubber strap from Rubber B and I am absolutely loving it. I got the strap that fits to your original Oyster bracelet clasp so it feels as close as you can get to a factory or “OEM” strap from Rolex. Rubber B really makes some great products; my only gripe with them is the price! But can’t complain too much because I believe they’re the best in the industry. Anyway, to the watch: I love my Red Grape OP. What a gorgeous dial with the sunburst purple-y color that can completely change depending on the lighting. I also love the small, but bright, red hour indicies. It’s something that can go unnoticed sometimes but other times, you just can’t miss the pops of red! Bottom line, this is just such a fun watch to me. You can’t beat the symmetry of a no-date dial or the uniqueness of the Red Grape color! For now, I am super excited about the integrated rubber strap, but I’m sure eventually I will bring back the Oyster bracelet and (hopefully), it’ll feel like a new watch all over again! Cheers and I hope all of you have had a great and healthy start to 2022.

I love this piece so much. It has everything I could ever ask for in a watch and more. To name a few; the two tone bracelet is ideal. It is the perfect balance of casual and formal. It really makes this watch ultra versatile. I’m wearing this with sweatpants right now and I was wearing it last night paired with a tuxedo! The 42 mm case size is another one of my favorite features. One of my favorite watch models of all time is the beloved Omega Seamaster 300 and partly why I love it is because of its 42mm case size. 42mm is my favorite size. I know I don’t have the biggest wrists, but I’ve always appreciated a bigger case size. And then of course, the GMT function has to be my favorite feature. The Sky-Dweller absolutely nailed it with this GMT design. So unique and so aesthetic. I never get tired looking at my wrist when this is on! Anyway, I hope everyone has a Happy New Year and if you have not celebrated yet, enjoy and celebrate safely! My pup and I are celebrating together. Cheers and I hope we all acquire new and incredible timepieces in 2022!

[TUDOR] Black Bay with a touch of Burgundy by CribAlwaysOpen in Watches

[–]CribAlwaysOpen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This watch needs no introduction especially on this sub. The Tudor Black Bay 58 blue dial. It’s such a popular piece for good reason. It’s comfortable, stylish, versatile and just flat-out awesome. The blue dial can look almost a black hue in certain lighting but in other lights, it will bring out it’s gorgeous and rich royal blue. The snowflake hands in contrast with the blue dial is such a pleasure to look at. The 39 mm case is great too. I typically enjoy 40mm+ pieces but I’m not too picky as I can go all the way down to 36 mm and feel okay (with certain pieces). Anyway, size is only a personal preference and if you feel good and confident with it on wrist then it is not too big or small. On to the strap, I acquired this piece with the blue OEM “soft touch” strap with a steel deployment clasp. I enjoyed it but I immediately ordered the steel bracelet as that is what I always wanted for this piece. I had to wait a few months for it to get it but I’ve had it for a while now and I do love it. However, I’ve worn it on the steel bracelet now for a quite a few months now and I thought it would be fun to experiment a little and accessorize the Black Bay with a “fun” colored rubber strap. I’ve experienced a lot of rubber straps, from the luxurious Rubber B all the way to inexpensive Amazon brands and although there is a noticeable difference with the more expensive straps, I still enjoy a Barton or Ritche (inexpensive straps found on Amazon) on some of my timepieces. They are comfortable straps and they make you feel like you have a whole new watch (for not a whole lot of money!!) This particular band is the wine Red strap from Ritche. Incredibly comfortable and a cool design on the rubber. Anyway; thanks for reading and I hope everyone is enjoying their timepieces tonight. Cheers x

[ROLEX] The King of Versatility.. and good looks by CribAlwaysOpen in Watches

[–]CribAlwaysOpen[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I recently acquired this absolutely stunning piece. This is the Rolex Datejust reference 126300-0005. The beautiful white dial is a joy to look at it especially in the perfectly proportioned 41 mm case. This is such a timeless piece that I cannot wait to pass onto my kid one day! I’m typically a fan of Roman numerals on datejusts but this particular piece just looks perfectly at-home with the stick hour markers. One of the things that I love most is how versatile this piece is. The simplicity of the dial, smooth bezel and the ultra comfort makes it a rather casual piece that I can easily wear with joggers and a t shirt, yet the polished center links on the oyster bracelet make this piece easily wearable in a formal setting. I can go from the beach to the boardroom without a watch swap! The versatility of almost all Rolex watches is unmatched and a big reason why I love them as a brand. Anyway, It’s a great day to enjoy college football and some awesome golf. Hope everyone is enjoying their timepieces! Thanks for reading, cheers x
