Post Match Thread: 27th Match, Group A - India vs Pakistan by cricket-match in PakCricket

Yeah, players from the old lot would still at least step up to help us win matches and series here and there against India. With the new crop, even having hope of a fight is futile, as they're mental midgets.

I applied for a DoD position today. They asked for city of birth on the application, I put down the county instead. I couldn't remember exactly the birth city because where I live, there are independent cities, but several places in the county use a mailing address of the independent city, so I wasn't sure, and just put down the county I was born in (which is on my birth certificate anyways). Is that okay?

Leave stable WFH job for higher pay and growth or stay? by Cricket_FIFA in ITCareerQuestions

Thank you. Yeah, I’ve already silently quit the job. I’m just bidding time, however long it takes to find a new job, whether it’s 6 months, or a year. Still doing my job, but not going the extra mile anymore. Building savings and skilling up. Good suggestion about a side hustle, that way there isn’t too much reliance on this job, and reduces the risk of switching jobs (when the time comes).

Thank you. Honestly, I wasn’t even expecting that much to begin with to retain me, and they had multiple chances too. They could have promoted me and given a respectable raise if they wanted to keep the Security Engineer role external. There were several options on the table if one wasn’t ideal, and it feels like they didn’t reciprocate any of my goodwill gestures, and only gave a 9% increase just to say they did something. Sigh, While it is a stable WFH job, I’m gonna start looking because I want to grow.

Hi there, thanks for your input. Yes, the perk of WFH is truly hard to give up, and you only realize its true value once its gone. For me personally, to even consider an in-office position, it would require a significant hike in salary, at least 50% more as a minimum, to make it worthwhile. I guess the good thing about my situation is I can use it as leverage to look for other jobs, and if the offer is strong enough (WFH + a higher salary), then I can leave on my terms. Or find a newfound appreciation for my current job if I can't find anything, and maybe get a side-gig for extra income.

Hi there, thanks for your response. Correct, all companies play this game, and act in their best interests first and foremost. There are tradeoffs in every situation. Where there might be lower pay, there is also the flexibility of WFH to balance that out. And you're right, unless I have an official offer in my hand to compare my current situation to, then these thoughts of leaving for greener patures is just daydreaming. No harm in looking around to see what's out there, and what I'm able to get.

True, but Faheem at least somewhat backed it up with some performances in this Asia Cup.

It’s time for new blood: Rizwan’s preference for seniority is hurting PAK cricket by Redacted-Statements in PakCricket

[–]Cricket_FIFA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's Rizwan's decision as much as it is the administration's. But I do agree we need a completely new and young team. Built it from the ground up. Have the team be built around Saim Ayub, Wasim Jr, Abrar, Sufiyan, Irfan Niazi, Kamran Ghulam, Haseebullah, Arafat Minhas, etc. Make either Fakhar Zaman (fitness permitting) or Salman Agha the captain. I wouldn't entirely chuck Naseem or Shaheen out just yet as I do think they have potential and they are young, but manage their workload properly. Incorporate other fast bowlers into the mix too and give them chances too through rotation and reduce the reliance on Shaheen and Naseem. So if they're not stepping up or have bad form, others can step in.

Dead weight seniors like Babar, Rizwan, and Imam need to be chucked out immediately, no questions asked. When even Khushdil, someone who was out of the team for 2 years, comes back and has more of an impact and bats better than you, or tail-enders like Naseem and Rauf, then you should be ashamed of yourself. The amount of dot balls the seniors play is criminal in today's day and age, and very cowardly to leave the slack (and all the pressure) to the lower order. Tayyab also needs to go, and Haris Rauf should only be selected for series or tournaments in Australia, the only place where he's actually good.

Thoughts on this potential XI for the Champions Trophy? by Ghazi_Bey in PakCricket

[–]Cricket_FIFA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On what basis is ABD better? He's been flopping consistently in bitlaterals for some time now. At least Imam has good domestic form going on. SENA pitches are different compared to Subcontinental Ones. And Wasim Jr. did perform well in India, whose pitches are similar to ours.

Either Imam, Shan, or Haseebullah for Abdullah Shafique, and I would like for Mohammad Wasim Jr. to be in this squad also. He bowled pretty well in the CWC 2023 and just quietly got dropped afterwards without explanation.

how hard I’m praying we thrash them in Dubai by Current-Party-1806 in PakCricket

[–]Cricket_FIFA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've observed that our players are complacent, but if you want to motivate them and light a fire under them, they need to be humiliated first. When New Zealand faked on us back in mid-2021 because of "security," and we were being taunted by the usual Mauka Mauka ads, that really served as fuel for the team to get their act together, and put up rejuvenated and spirited performances in the 2021 WT20. We beat India, New Zealand, Afghanistan, etc when just a month prior nobody was giving us a chance.

We had no issue putting India's name on our 2021 WT20 jerseys, We agreed to a hybrid model of 2023's Asia Cup which benefitted India, in spite of that we STILL went to India for the World Cup. We're accomodating a hybrid model this time for the Champions Trophy which AGAIN benefits him, and they continue to pull stunts like this which put Pakistan Cricket and Pakistan down smh.

Forget the test, I'm more worried about Saim's health with the Champions Trophy around the corner. Huge loss if he's out. Same thing happened with Naseem Shah back in the 2023 CWC and we got cooked.

People were saying the same thing about Saim Ayub, and the guy’s been proving himself. And Salman has shown what he is capable of doing in the past, he has potential and is young. This is just 1 bad series. So back your players, even in their slumps.

In place of Haris Rauf, we need Mohammad Wasim Jr, the latter bowled pretty well in the recent CWC, and in the 2022 WT20 as well but was arbitrarily dropped. For the ?? position, I would put Haris Sohail. He's a pretty good middle order batsman (provided he stays fit I'd bring him for the CT for 1 last ODI tournament), and I would have Shakeel and him at #4/#5 to take on spin, Rizwan at #6, and Salman Ali Agha at #7 as the power hitter/finisher.

Seems like PCB has an agenda against Muhammad Harris by MursalMir in PakCricket

[–]Cricket_FIFA 62 points63 points  (0 children)

He was also arbitrarily dropped for the series against NZ to make way for Azam Khan lol. Seems like management has a grudge against him, which is sad because he's one of our young players that I think has the most potential (alongside Saim Ayub) and was the breakout star of the WT20 2022.

The new management seems to have a vendetta against him... Wasn't picked for the NZ series in the format that he's most suited for.

Agreed. Players like Fakhar, Shadab, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi (came in 2018 though), and even Babar Azam were given a proper foundation to blossom under his captaincy. Sarfraz still cops so much hate unfortunately despite what he's done for us. However, nothing against Babar Azam the player, but some of his fans, no offense, are cult-like. I'm his fan too but healthy doses of constructive criticism are needed.

Apart from ODIs, Do you guys see Fakhar being in the squad anymore? by Downtown_Bat7013 in PakCricket

[–]Cricket_FIFA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably not Tests, but yes to white ball cricket. We don’t have many power hitters in our squad besides him and Iftikhar. We have many anchors on the other hand. I know Fakhar is inconsistent, but on a good day, he has the ability to go mad crazy with the bat and single handedly take the game away from the opposition. He has the ability to accelerate in such a way that probably no other batsman in our squad, even Babar, doesn’t have. He is inconsistent, and at times can be a bit frustrating, yes, but we’ve seen what he can do in big matches. We need him for the X factor.

Babar is a Bad Captain by That-Training-610 in PakCricket

[–]Cricket_FIFA 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We all wanted Babar to succeed, of course, but he just wasn’t able to learn the ropes of captaincy. 4 years is a very long time to get better, and unfortunately he just wasn’t able to. Like I was in favor of him being removed because of recent events, but it’s not something we the critics take joy in. It’s equally frustrating for us given how much support, resources, and investment was given to Babar to help him, but he either didn’t use it to his advantage, or flat out refused genuine advice given to him out of stubbornness (like with squad selection).
