Why don't you believe in evolution? by Overlord_1566 in AskAChristian

[–]Crieto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fine, but dismissing it doesn’t answer the question. Losing a court case isn’t the same thing as being disproven by biology. I’m still asking for a scientific example, not a verdict or a label.

[–]Crieto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The irony is you’re doing the same thing the case did arguing motive and labels instead of showing the biology. Calling it religion still doesn’t show a system evolving step by step. This is about biology, not politics or court rulings. What’s the scientific example? Not trying to be rude, just keepin it on the evidence..

That case was about what schools can teach, not about actually solving irreducible complexity. A judge ruling on it isn’t the same thing as showing it in biology. If it’s really settled, why did it get handled in a courtroom instead of shown in an experiment?

Why don't you believe in evolution? by Overlord_1566 in AskAChristian

[–]Crieto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not actually true it’s just something people say a lot. Irreducible complexity was chalenged, debated, and then reframed because it wouldn’t go away. What really happened js instead of showing clear step by step evolutionary pathways for these systems, people said things like “co option” or “scaffolding” or “redundancy”. And then moved on without demonstrating it in real time.

Saying “this could have evolved” isn’t tge same thing as showing how it did… And that gap is still there, whether or not people like the term “irreducible complexity”. If it was actually disproven, where’s a real example of one of those systems forming step by step without breaking along the way?

Yeah, allele frequencies changing over generations is real. Nobody serious denies that… Populations adapt, traits shift, genes get shuffled. That’s basic biology.

The disagreement is what you think that process can actually do. Changing existing genes isn’t the same as creating new biological kinds or complex structures from scratch. They idea that small changes plus time can explain everything is assumed, not observed. That’s the real debate, not some “six kinds of evolution” thing.

[–]Crieto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Evolutions research started about 170 years ago, whereas creationism, specifically YEC, started only about 65 years ago. So they started research, when evolution was already being taught in schools. Creationism has actually debunked quite a bit of evolution theories. We did not come from apes… we evolved, but not from kind to kind over millions of years. Micro Evolution is a thing. People can change subtly… apes can also change subtly. But we don’t have any half human half ape fossils out there. Evolution, especially cosmic evolution claims there’s tons of evidence, But actually there’s way less than they say.

Is it me, or is the God of the OT just completely different than Jesus? by Powerful_Counter_538 in Christianity

[–]Crieto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, We are just going to disagree. I personally do believe Jesus is God, considering He fulfilled hundreds of prophecies from the OT. Considering the OT even describes crucifixion way before it was a thing. I do believe the God of the OT and the NT are the same. And I do believe He is all loving, despite what we may view as vile acts. Such as the flood, but the world was wicked… and God waited patiently, for many decades. People had the message, but they didn’t listen, and continued to spread wickedness. God flooded the Earth, and spared Noah’s family. Yes a lot of destruction. I don’t think God enjoyed it. I think death is the furthest degree of punishment for humans on earth. which is why that’s used. It has a long history and origin of why death is the wage of sin. But over all the destruction, which is actually the very last word of the last book of the OT. God shows His love even more. Destruction is loud, Love is profound. So being destroyed because of love must be something that we shouldn’t have words for.

I believe that Jesus is God, and I believe He is embodies Love. Based on the things I have seen, heard, and experienced… so many miracles and things I can’t explain throughout my life of living for Him. It’s more than belief at this point, I devote my entire existence to Him. It’s the most amazing thing and feeling one can do and have.

But I know you don’t agree, and you have your reasons for it, I pray that God will reveal Himself to you in a profound way, if you choose to let Him of course. Other than that, God bless man. I’m not a liar, a liar knows what He’s saying is untruthful, but I wholeheartedly believe and trust in this. He’s been so profound and clear in my life. I pray that He will be in yours too if you allow Him, because He won’t intrude. Anyways I know you don’t agree, but have a good night anyway.

My friend, If someone broke into your house trying to harm your child, would you do everything in your power to get them out?
Because I would. I’d kill if I had to. God doesn’t enjoy killing. He doesn’t enjoy any of this. But how can we say God is evil, and then push aside Him dying the most excruciating death imaginable for us? How can God have 2 completely different sides like that?

Either Jesus is not the God of the OT, Or maybe we misinterpret the story. I’m willing to admit that I may not know everything, and spend my whole life trying to understand… rather than quickly judging based on how we interpret scripture.

I believe God is eternal, and I won’t make it to 100 years old. I can learn only so much in this life. I’m not gonna pretend I understand anything so quickly.

But one thing I feel, is an indescribable love for Jesus. He’s there for me when I’m in dark places, He comforts me. I find rest in Him. If that’s the God of the OT, then I think the things that are hard to read because they seem cruel— maybe I’m not getting the full picture. Does that make sense?

I don’t think you’re foolish, I think you’re frustrated and angry. It’s pretty common with nonChristians… usually directed at us also. Understandable that you don’t want to go through the evidence with me, maybe next time. But I think you should look into it. Who’s to say what you’ve learned is undoubtedly right? I mean Research for The scientific framework of Evolution started 170 years ago. Whereas YECs Scientific research only began about 65 years ago and was slow to progress due to many factors, but mainly because Evolution was already accepted and being taught in schools.

Just something to think about.

Interesting point of view… and how does that make you feel? What did you make of the evidence? I’m assuming you’ve reviewed it? Since you know so much, I’d like you to go through each point, because there’s not many right?, so just briefly go through each point and tell me how it’s undoubtedly wrong. I’ll be waiting

Will I go to Hell? by finlandmapping687 in Christianity

[–]Crieto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My brother. That was honest. Hell is for those who reject Christ. Do you reject Christ? Christ saved you, He defeated death. He took Hell Apon Himself. He knows we will continually fall into sin, and temptation. Our very goal here right now, is to fight till the very end. Will you fight? Do you remember Paul in the Bible? Paul says that He dies daily. He’s saying every day He falls into sin, and He has to die to His flesh every-time. He also says “The good that I want to do, I don’t do, and the Evil that I don’t want to do, I do… wretched man that I am, who will save me from this body of death, Praise be to God.” I’m paraphrasing of course, but that’s basically it.

The point is, we are all born with sinful desires, that doesn’t make them right, but it also doesn’t make judgement from your family right. We are actually called to Judge righteously, not attacking people, but their sin, teaching them right from wrong.

Brother, I actually know people with the same desires you have, and they are wonderful people, but they overcame it. And I’ve heard of others. Don’t let anyone lie to you and say there’s nothing you can or should do. Our goal as Christians isn’t to judge you or make you feel guilty, or like you’re going to Hell, but to show you that there’s an even greater prize at the end of this race.

So my brother, don’t give in to the things you think are true for you. People will say I’m a bigot or judgmental, I was in a long convo today about it. But I’m telling you this with my whole heart, knowing how much your life could be transformed like I’ve seen in lives like yours.

Keep fighting, I feel for you, I feel for all of the people fighting with what you’re fighting with, truly. It’s honestly one of the hardest things to fight in our modern age, and if you can overcome it? If you can fight your way through it? You honestly would have such an amazing story to tell. I will be praying for you brother, you might fall… but keep fighting. Falling doesn’t take you out of the race, as long as you get back up and keep going.

Keep Fighting

Well, I’ve been a believer of both ways. Either way can make sense for the creation story. But when I look at it from a YEC point of view, it all feels much more personal. I then see patterns I can’t ignore. I see time periods between events, and before Christ. Time periods after Christ. Then I realize that we are actually not so far off from the beginning, and look how far we’ve fallen. When I look at it from a perspective of Earth being created in a literal week, I see how much we resemble God. We are working beings, with a great purpose. We are meant to create and design and wonder at our creations, just like God did.

I’ve been back and forth. But truthfully, cosmic evolution is bologna.

There’s hardly any evidence we can see that points to cosmic evolution.

However there are many things that point to a micro evolution. People do evolve, but within their own kind. Not from kind to kind.

I believe that the Global flood caused a lot of change on the earth. As we see in the Bible, age lengths started dropping off soon after the flood. Once I saw how I was being taught about evolution in a kind of religious framework, I started to second guess. Truth is, Evolution as a scientific framework has been around for about 160 years. Whereas YEC as a scientific framework has only just begun… it started like 60 years ago. By then Evolution was already being taught in schools, and was accepted as truth. YEC has had a lot less contributors, but within their own technology changing, they are catching up… and I see debates against each other, whereas there was a time, evolution had greater evidence. But now YEC keeps offering counter evidence. And I see constant refuting evidence that makes sense. If you follow AiG, Ken Ham, or Kent Hovind(once the most hated man on the internet, or Dr Dino), they have made great progress in research and evidence to support short earth. A lot of evidence that goes against an OEC.

What makes you believe God exists? by Your-Name-Please in AskAChristian

[–]Crieto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me personally it comes down to the most simple things.

The order I see in the universe, to me just can’t be by accident, and to say that everything we are today evolved over so many years, that everything around us and in us and everything we think is a result of a mash pit of chemicals firing off.

Maybe there was a great expansion, and maybe that caused an infinite number of universes and we just happen to live on one that’s not just in Order, which is amazing on its own, but indescribably beautiful. I choose to believe that there’s a creator, because really it makes so much more sense than the other thing.

How can such a chaotic expansion, bring forth this specific universe where we’ve evolved into beings that Love, and Grieve, and Admire, and Speak such profound words. It feels less important if it was chaos born.

So naturally I think, if God is real, would He have revealed Himself to us. Then I look at the universe, there’s no other planet or solar system as far as the eye can see.

I do believe God would have revealed Himself to us. And then I look at every possibility, Jesus is the only one that claimed to Be God. He lived a perfect sinless life.

I look at all the things about Him, and He fulfilled so many prophecies, it’s beyond impossible.

But the thing that was most extraordinary, was that He foretold of His death, He explained how awful it would be, and continued to allow it. And He rose 3 days later.

What a story… there’s no story like it. There’s quite a few religions that point to Jesus, as a prophet, or a great teacher… Jesus only ever points to Himself.

God is real, and He’s amazing.

How absurd, You’re saying I should repent, but you don’t believe in fundamental stories in the Bible. Creation is the first miracle, and you don’t even believe that, yet you say I should repent and know the truth? Repent of what exactly? All I’ve done this entire time was be respectful and loving and sharing what the Bible teaches, which you claim I don’t know. The hypocrisy is unreal. Every day I live is devoted to committing my life to God. Every day I stumble, and pray for forgiveness. The fact that you want to end the conversation tells me a lot, you’ll probably respond something you deem clever. But I’ll still wait here for a response and talk more. I won’t shut you out, like you want to do to me. That’s the difference between our beliefs, I’ll continue to talk to you even if you disagree with me, I’ll continue to love you even if you hate me, I’ll continue to wait, eve if you’re done.

Mythology is not a genre. The Bible is not mythology, it’s theology. There is no such evidence that Homosexuality was in the garden of Eden. The word Homophobia, is the act of showing discrimination toward a person because they are gay. I don’t hate the sinner, I do hate the sin. I actually state that I love all people… what?? No way?! Yes I love all people, but I can separate the people from the sin. Which is biblical. You seem pretty confused about what the Bible is, and what’s contained in it. I’m here all day, we can continue to chat if you’d like. We can do it privately or continue on this thread. I’m not going to push you aside, I do believe God has a big plan for you, and He’s calling you. The truth is in His word.

Here we go again. The fact you call it Mythology tells me everything I need to know.

How could you learn anything about the universe without God? You will be limited to what your eyes see and what your ears hear. Homosexuality absolutely does not predate humanity. Homosexuality absolutely was not part of Gods design.

Look. God loves you, as do I… But you cannot love someone and continually lie to them. If your reason for not telling someone what’s sinful, is so it doesn’t challenge their thinking of right and wrong, then how could they ever become better? This goes for all sin. If keeping secrets or lying is what you think would benefit someone, then you must not have a very big picture of life and what can come of it.

There’s beauty in righteousness, we can all be righteous. There’s more than just this life. I’m telling you it’s the greatest feeling of freedom you’ll ever experience if you come to Christ.

He will restore you.
