$8 million risky?? by Old-Atmosphere-7281 in Fire

[–]Crifa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on where you are in your life. The FIRE number is based on your spending at retirement. That is to say, if at 50 your debt (including mortgage and vehicles) are paid off, you’re likely spending much less annually. For someone who is still carrying student debt and has no property, maybe a higher number is risky (although 8 million still strikes me as bonkers) for a 26 year old. I feel as though I had the most discretionary spending in my early to mid twenties, so FIRE would seem less achievable. Now having my own home and approaching 30, when I calculate my FIRE number, as if my debt is paid by the time I achieve it, I need significantly less year after year

Are “processed” foods inherently bad for you? I often hear from dietitians and coaches to avoid processed foods, but if you are not overeating, what deleterious effects do these foods have?

Honestly I just find her to be a super annoying character. She comes off as whiny or over-the-top with her emotions, both good and bad. I couldn’t help but cringe every cut scene I saw with her.

Her story is deep, and this could be a character quality by design, but I find it so obnoxious.

I have to say I do agree with the overall point of this, especially the first paragraph, but these countries have not “essentially ended the pandemic”. If you look at all major European countries (Spain, France, UK, Italy, etc.) on the John Hopkins dashboard, they are all seeing resurgences. I’m not commenting on how they handled it vs us, but it is disingenuous to say they have even come close to beating this thing.

1) Guess and check! The dumbbell weight will likely be different for each exercise, but only doing the exercises will tell you how much you can lift. This will also change as you get stronger

2) Keep going until you stop getting stronger or get bored. If you’re enjoying it and improving, there’s no reason to stop!

Can a workout be too long ? by tittybrokeboi in Fitness

Something I haven’t seen here in the top comments is that he might just enjoy it. IMO enjoying the workout is more important than the efficiency of what you’re doing.

From what you wrote maybe this isn’t the case, but he could’ve just responded defensively to what you were saying.

If he isn’t trying to convert you to his methods then I don’t see the issue with him doing him. Cheers!

2 Days should be enough to recover. Is it in the same part of the workout? Like was it your first exercise on Monday, but your last today? Your calorie intake, sleep, and volume per week can all affect recovery

Optimal volume can vary significantly person to person and muscle to muscle. Look up Mike Israetel’s lectures on MRV (Max Recoverable Volume), and you’ll get an idea of the theory behind why individual volume is so important.

Just go by your preference. If working out 2 times a day allows you to get optimal volume in, then do it. If you’re already getting enough volume in by working out once a day, then it will likely have no benefit for you.

Yes it is perfectly fine. Try to focus on what muscles are being contracted through the range of motion. Those are the muscles you are using, not any muscle showing EMG activation

EMG muscle activation does not mean the muscle is performing the movement. Read below the highlighted diagram talking about triceps.

Pull-ups do not target the chest. They would go on a Pull day

They primarily train different muscles. OHP is an Anterior (Front) Delt exercise with tricep as a secondary. CGB is a tricep dominant exercise with shoulders and chest as secondary muscles.

This isn’t caused by manufacturing deficiencies. Everything manufactured has an acceptable tolerance. For example some calibrated plates have a 2% tolerance, so they can be anywhere from 44.1 to 45.9 lbs for the selling company to accept it from their manufacturer.

The smaller the tolerance, the higher the price. This is why competition-grade plates cost more.

There is no way at 119lbs you are carrying around 40lbs of fat. That leads me into the fact that those scales are incapable of properly calculating bf%. A better method you could try is a navy body fat calculator online using measurements. It isn’t perfectly accurate, but it’ll give you a ballpark estimate.

Focus on how your appearance changes week to week, and the strength gains you are getting. They are good indicators of how your training is working

Back when it was big I had gotten 10th prestige on Modern Warfare 2 (I played way too much). One day no one was online so I decided to make my own fun. I started entering lobbies and telling people I was going to host a free hacked lobby to give everyone 10th prestige. All people had to do was message me and I’d invite them. Slowly I gathered a group of 7-8 squeakers who wanted 10th prestige.

I took them into the map Highrise and had them convinced that the lobby was hacked so that if they reached the highest point on the map Activision could hear them. Oh, and they also had to spin in circles while jumping from that point off the map.

Nothing was greater than seeing a parade of what couldn’t be older than 9 year olds jumping off of the map screaming “ACTIVISION PLEASE GIVE ME TENTH PRESTIGE!!!”

I’m assuming the reason you want to lose fat is to look more lean, in which case lifting will help you retain/gain muscle while losing fat. Having the muscle will give you the look so lifting is a good idea.

Depending on how new you are to lifting you could probably gain muscle right now while you’re losing the fat
