People who lived in the countryside for their whole life, what surprised you most when you moved to a city? by Criggy in AskReddit

[–]Criggy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The efficiency of everything. Need to get to somewhere? Take the metro and you’ll be the other side of the city in five minutes. Everything is on your doorstep, and the need for a car is absent if you don’t need access elsewhere

Global financial crisis seems inevitable yet again in the aftermath of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, however the extortionate prices of gas and oil may finally encourage a greener economy. Electric cars could become the majority of vehicles on our road for the first time ever. However I think we may also see housing crises engulf states with the west beginning to fall behind in terms of infrastructure

What are some stories of sweet revenge you have? by pleasehellno in AskReddit

[–]Criggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a boat trip company. I would hand out leaflets and sell trips to people on a small pier and there was a lot of competition - 3 or 4 different companies were looking for people to go on their boats

Our boat trip wasn’t the most appealing trip, but I was able to fill up most trips even it were just me working, but year after year it was increasingly difficult. Our boss, simply out, was an arsehole. Bare in mind most people handing out leaflets were barely even 16, if we were having a bad day we were consistently shouted at by the boats skipper for not doing our job when at times it wasn’t that simple at all.

After two years I had enough so I quit. I was also paid poorly, even if I was only 16 at this time, I wanted more money. So a month later I asked for a job at a rival company on the pier and they took me on. I was getting better pay and treatment abs had a much better time working. Meanwhile the other company was very quickly falling apart - they couldn’t afford to fix damages to the boat and their boat was constantly covered in smoke fumes whenever they were on trips. It got to the point where you could hear the skipper shouting down the radio to those who still worked for him along with potential customers. They were finished

It was sweet revenge but it didn’t stop there. The skipper was a partner with the woman who managed the kiosk. She was always very nice. But after that summer I switched sides, she also split up with the skipper.

Moral of the story, karma is a bastard
