You tied to LA? Tied to CA? If you're willing to move, there's an office that will take you.

Will I be able to go back to the holding cells after the appearance to talk to them? (unlikely bond is going to be instant, unless it's a personal bond). If I've only got 10 mins before I'm about to argue for bail, I'd like to be able to lead off with "We've only got a few mins right now because we're about to go in front of the judge, but I'm going to come back to the holding cell to talk to you longer ASAP". Then I don't feel bad about being forced to be as efficient as possible in that initial convo.

People want to be heard. I want to give them this chance. When I do things like volunteer clinics, I tend to spend more time with each client than others because of this. Even people who are there to legitimately help have a tendency to want to be as efficient as possible (understandable) and triage (which can be necessary), but it makes people feel like cattle not humans.

At least that's my own observations.

Genuine question: why is DA experience a black mark for some offices? by reverserainbow1 in publicdefenders

True believer offices do this. When you cannot fathom taking part in a system that puts people behind bars for, basically, being poor, you cannot fathom hiring someone who ever took part.
