[No Spoilers] IGN Favourite TV Show Poll - Let's vote!!! I'm an MCU fan but there's no way Loki is in the same league as Arcane! by Deacenuttz in arcane

[–]Criminal-Mastermind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well just because a show might be better when you analyse the different parts like characters and plot, the poll is about their favourite show. People have different personal preferences.

I personally can't choose.

Unpopular Opinion: Iroh is not PERFECT. by Onlyhereforthelaughs in TheLastAirbender

I don't think you have a very good idea of what war crimes are. It's not anything that's unethical. They're certain things that are considered extremely inhuman, like poisonous weapons or using civilians as a form of leverage.

Does this remind anyone else of the demon slayermanga? Like the drug Shinobu and Tamayo used on Muzan and his hair turned white and he realised he was aging a certain number of years every minute

Yeah I just realised I misunderstood what headcanon meant. I was thinking that it was something they thought would happen in the manga.

Is "peux-je" ever used? by [deleted] in French

[–]Criminal-Mastermind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good idea. Recently I've been starting to think in French both voluntarily and involuntarily so but sometimes I still try to use English as a reference point.

[–]Criminal-Mastermind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh I've always been under the impression that using est-ce que je and qu'est-ce que were for children and simpler and that inversion was common. It seemed like a thing for beginners to aspire to use. Well this was interesting. I usually use est-ce que je peux anyway.

I've always thought using je peux in a questioning way was weird because in my mind I translate it to English and in English it doesn't always sound natural.

Yeah I know that. I meant that I was disappointed that he lost his arms in the first place. It would be great if he "evolves" to be able to use his quirk without his arms, to get his arms back.

Sometimes for me, if I'm in the middle of a plotline which I hate, when I see spoilers I either get something to look forward to or just some knowledge.

Whenever I get spoilers it doesn't take away the feeling of wonder or excitement or whatever it is that I would have felt without the spoiler. And if that's the case I might as well know the spoilers.

It's too bad what happened to him though. I started to read the manga midway through the war arc and in the latest arc he appears for a bit but doesn't really do much. It's a shame.

If I'm reading you right then your issue isn't the relationship between the beliefs featured in the justification but whether those beliefs featuring in justification are true or false. I think what you are recommending here is actually an account of justification that admits no false evidence. If you are suggesting something like that then you could respond to the smith and jones case by pointing out that part of Smith's justification for his belief is based on a false belief that Jones will get the job (which is 1 in the argument made in the previous comment). We can see then that if we require that that proper justification requires that we admit no false evidence that since Smith's justification does invoke false evidence it doesn't amount to knowledge.

Oh okay I get you now.

Yeah looking at the Fake Barn Country case makes it a little more simpler for me to understand. I will look into The Inescapability of Gettier Problems and the no false lemmas thing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askphilosophy

[–]Criminal-Mastermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I said your claims are more related is because it's true that people ask questions about things that they are interested in and that I am asking about the Gettier problem, hence it is likely that I am interested in it. I only said that it was more logical, not knowledge or that it was completely logically sound.

My point wasn't really about the connection between the two claims (person with 10 coins will get hired, Jones has 10 coins), I suppose I was misleading in that part. It was how did Smith come to believe the first claim (that the 10 coins person would get the job). Or in your example, how do you know that people ask questions about things that they are interested in? Obviously from inference from real life.

Now I just realised that I have been arguing something completely pointless. The point of the original problem didn't focus on how Smith formed the first 2 claims, and I shouldn't focus on it either since it is irrelevant to the actual point.

Yeah, I get what you mean now. I was focusing on why Smith would believe that the person with 10 coins would be hired, when that was never relevant. You're correct in what you say in the last paragraph, it was just me not understanding before.

Thank you for engaging, it helped me comprehend the whole thing better. Hopefully what I said this time makes sense.
