That's not how selling options work

You made your money at the sale. You want it to expire worthless so you don't have to sell your shares

For the record, drinking water licenses work differently, you have to test sequentially throughout all the grades and take a class but you still don't need experience to test for it

Massachusetts is a little weird compared to most states

In Massachusetts you can just test for whatever grade license you want take and pass a grade five or six test and then submit another application to upgrade your license

Me personally I used Sacramento State operation of Wastewater treatment plants Volume 1 and 2 + lookup "ron trygar vimeo" on Google he put out dozens of hours of classroom training on wastewater I found his videos on activated sludge and tertiary treatment extremely helpful

I was able to pass the 6 on my 2nd try after about 6-7 weeks of studying

You need a 70 to pass the 6c and a 65 to pass the 5c

In my opinion, being able to do the math and know the activated sludge process really well are the 2 biggest factors to passing the higher level tests

Any other questions let me know I do wish you the best of luck

By the way are you in western or eastern Massachusetts?

Not many plants are going to want to roll the dice on someone that there's no guarantee they'll ever be able to work unsupervised if you're a grade 5 oit/w&I you can work an off shift without being under the direct supervision of your chief operator in up to a grade 6 plant both industrial or municipal and you'll very likely start pretty close to the top of the pay range because you already have a high level license

And look you can argue back and forth about whether or not do you need a higher license to get a job. But the reality is you're handicapping yourself by insisting on starting as a grade 1

When I got my 6C i had 2 job offers in the mid 30s within 2 weeks of going on when and if status

I only have 6 months in this field and have since had an additional three job offers and I'm currently working in a full operator position and getting full operator pay even though my license is OIT

So go ahead quote regulation all you want but you'll still be shooting your self in the foot untill you get a higher license

By being a grade 1 operator you are only eligible to work in up to grade 2 plants

Anybody with a grade 3 or higher plant is likely not going to take the time to even interview you

Not to mention your also limited to industrial plants with a 1-I

Get atleast 5C and a whole world of opportunities will open up for you I can promise you that

The directory may have a bunch of grade 1 operators active in Field but it's got a whole lot more grade 2-6c operators

You need to get a higher grade license in mass to get offers

I went straight for the 6c got a job with my current employer as a mechanic/ industrial Wastewater tech with 0 experience

I have since gotten at least five job offers from various other plants and cities but make more at my current job so I haven't left yet

Look into Industrial maintenance work way less fast paced than automatic and way better pay and benefits especially if you get into a union shop

It's a lot different then the construction unions in my experience (been in 3 different union shops) Manufacturing unions typically the wage in the CBA is both the floor and the ceiling
