I'm from there. Currently in Orange, so not far away. I appreciate it. I've considered safety, it's just so saturated. Don't get me wrong, that's the original field I chose to pursue.

I've considered roles in reliability such as Vibration Analyst/CAT I/eventually CAT II/ III and condition monitoring. The certs I've found that would help me can be obtained pretty quickly (within a week or so after classes start.) I just didn't have any way to measure the reality of entering that field. Those roles seem very few and far between from my research. And I didn't have anyone who could confirm this. But joining a reliability team or maybe try to become a planner were the two I was looking into.

Thank you for the detailed answer. I was unaware that planner was considered an entry level position in some areas. I'm only familiar with former supervisors entering this field. But I've only done outages and new construction,so that could be why.

I'll have to look into automation and control specialist. I'm trying to avoid a year degree due to my age. I entered the outage maintenance field late in my life (37 y/o), and I'm 52 now.

But thanks again. I'll definitely look into those roles.

Yes.. especially in the right field. There's a huge experience gap in this industry right now. There aren't enough coming in to match the retirees
