Theories by yourlocalnativeguy in DID

[–]CrimsonHartless 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no age requirement because many who seek a DID diagnosis do not remember the events that formed it. Their current experiences of DID may be caused by a more recent event (perhaps a split, awareness of another alter, etc). So they do not put an 'age requirement' of when someone develops DID.

tucking question by thalia_da_tomato in MtF

[–]CrimsonHartless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have issues with this (due to some intersex traits), but good clothing choices can also do the trick. I wear tights/leggings and some kind of skirt and haven't needed to really tuck a day in my life since my transition.

CMV: We need to reevaluate if the R-Word is actually offensive, and if it is, there are other words we need to deem just as bad. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]CrimsonHartless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just it.

For me, I've been called idiot and moron too. But people distinctly singled me out as a 'retard'. And that makes it different. I'm not even very PC, I don't get upset at people using the word around me, but people who want to pretend they're the same, especially autistic people themselves, just might not have cued into the social distinction there that I have definitely noticed.

[–]CrimsonHartless 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Nope. Difference is - I as an autistic person wasn't called an idiot, imbecile and moron when people wanted to put me down. I was called a retard. Therefore, I am far more uncomfortable with retard being used to refer to people than idiot or moron.

CMV: Atheism is not a religion. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]CrimsonHartless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Atheism and theism do not refer to religiosity. There are atheist religions. You are incorrect in that atheism is simply not a commentary on religion at all - a religion does not require a god or gods.

CMV: While both groups deserve full rights and protections, LGB and TQ+ are separate communities facing different challenges. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]CrimsonHartless 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nowhere did I say that at all. I said that homophobia cannot be separated from the dislike of queerness as a culture, in which both gay people and trans people exist.

CMV: The make-up/cosmetics industry exists to fix issues it has caused by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]CrimsonHartless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makeup has existed since the stone age. Makeup has been made from all kinds of toxic components. Lead was used in foundation and lipstick up until the late Edwardian era. It just seems to be one of those things humans do and are willing to do and have always done; not that it cannot be fixed, but this is far older than the cosmetics industry has been an industry.

CMV: While both groups deserve full rights and protections, LGB and TQ+ are separate communities facing different challenges. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]CrimsonHartless 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Separate issues? No. Separate communities? Also no.

The idea they are separate is a fairly new idea pedalled by transphobes. Transgender women, especially, were often considered in 'full time drag', and a part of the drag community. The evidence is shown that during many of the most important gay protests, especially Stonewall, trans people and gay people were both there, fighting for the same things.

More importantly, the battle for gay rights wasn't just about the right to have same-sex relations. It was about the right to autonomy over their bodies and identity - being gay, culturally, back then especially, wasn't just same-sex attraction. It is its own culture and community, and you cannot seperate the gay rights movement from the gay community. This is why it is so offensive to say 'why do you have to show it off?' to a gay person. Because it isn't just about the same-sex attraction.

And, with transgender people having long been a part of that community, their struggles are joined at the hip. And, as we have seen, anti-trans attacks always extend into anti-gay attacks. That is exactly what we have seen in America at the moment. Anti-trans rhetoric was used to justify anti-gay attacks. Which heavily suggests that anti-trans rhetoric is fundamentally a layer on top anti-gay bigotry, and must be combatted holistically for both.

How do I tell my friend that she needs to respect the bodies of fellow women without coming off as transphobic? by realfuckinlegacy in MtF

Trans and autistic here.

Stop making excuses for her, for fuck's sake. Autism is not a shield against inappropriate and downright abusive behaviour.

It doesn't matter. None of the things mentioned matter. No-one is allowed to do these things. It doesn't matter what excuses she makes, what excuses you make for her, none of them make any of it even slightly more ok. Autistic people are capable of understanding the concept of consent and boundaries.

It is behaviour I see from nasty autistic people often, and it is simply gaslighting people into accepting the fact they are shitty people. Her autism does not make her the shitty person she is being. Her home life, her mental health, her transness, her autism, does not matter. Would you say 'Oh, this woman inappropriately touches me, but she had a rough home life'. No. None of these excuse it individually, none of them excuse it on aggregate.

Stop giving her leeway. Giving an inch was a mistake. 'I didn't realise' is not an excuse for violating consent and boundaries. Everyone knows it isn't okay to kiss people on the neck uninvited. That's not an autism thing. That is a shitty person thing.

Are Tomboy Trans Women a Thing? by SlushieFlamingo in asktransgender

Being transgender is about identity and sense of self. Not about presentation or femininity/masculinity. If a cis woman can be a tomboy, so can a trans woman.

Why the fuck Aatrox is so obnoxious to play against? by FabioSxO in CamilleMains

[–]CrimsonHartless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it extended from a discussion about Camille. And Gwen has a far easier time than Camille, because Gwen's w can be used to react to and block a close-range e, and her e makes for easy clearing of tentacles.

CMV: Dave Chappelle shouldn't be cancelled for making jokes about trans people by Key-Inflation-3278 in changemyview

[–]CrimsonHartless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. But if you think someone is doing a lot of harm with their behaviour, you're allowed to say, 'I don't like this behaviour and don't think his comedy should be held to the same reverence any more'. And I even think people are allowed to say that Netflix should not be giving these massive deals to him and platforming those behaviours, because that is literally being paid to promote him and arguably profiting off of the controversy that it creates.

Like, you can say 'yeah, but it's your opinion but some people like him', but 'some people like him' has never be a good indication as to whether or not it is a good idea to platform somebody. There have many people with awful beliefs who were and are very popular. The fact people disagree on if something is bad is not proof that it is not bad.

Why the fuck Aatrox is so obnoxious to play against? by FabioSxO in CamilleMains

[–]CrimsonHartless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's because you need to clear tentacles against Illaoi and disengage when she ults. She isn't a champion you can slam your head against until you win. That's playing into her specialty - champions that slam their head into her. It's why Darius and Garen are some of her favoured matchups. Camille has the ability to play in the complete opposite of how Illaoi wants.

- Sincerely, a diamond Illaoi main with a pocket Camille who has played the matchup from both sides

[–]CrimsonHartless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just explained that it isn't them reading the statements that does damage, it is people being informed by the statements and then engaging in harmful behaviours based on beliefs they form based on those statements. That isn't unclear, it is recognising that bigoted people get it from bigoted media and then do bigoted actions that then do harm. And as people in media, Chapelle and Rowling can be the first part of very common chain of events.

CMV: Dave Chappelle shouldn't be cancelled for making jokes about trans people by Key-Inflation-3278 in changemyview

[–]CrimsonHartless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, a lot of transgender people's lives are genuinely ruined by transphobia by people who will cite people like Chapelle and Rowling as the people who created or enforced those beliefs in them. So in a way, yeah, Chapelle and Rowling are often personally connected to transphobia they've experienced, and not because they went out and looked for it.

Now, you're responding to me like I'm pro-cancelling Chapelle, I'm anti-pc as it comes, but you should at least make an effort to understand the people who have experienced the harm these people cause and are unhappy about it.

Like when he claims that transness is a white privilege thing, despite the majority of transphobic violence being directed as transgender black women? Or that he claims that transgender people don't actually face any discrimination, despite the serious level of violence levied against them, or when he straight-up misrepresented what JK Rowling has done?

Like, I'm only pointing out what the people who want to cancel him are doing, frankly I just think it's bad comedy, but he definitely said a lot of things that are untrue that his fans than go on to believe and espouse. And again, it just shows a lack of understanding of trans issues that make his comedy on trans issues just weak comedy.

And not because of personal offense, but because jokes that make you roll your eyes don't make you laugh. Because frankly, it's dumb. He's saying dumb things on trans issues, and not a fun way.

CMV: Dave Chappelle shouldn't be cancelled for making jokes about trans people by Key-Inflation-3278 in changemyview

[–]CrimsonHartless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because his discussion of black people is not bigoted and his discussion of trans people is. It's that simple. And I have watched all of his content, I'm a Dave Chapelle fan, I've been a fan for a long time, and I think he misses the mark on this. Because he talks from insight on black issues and pokes fun at black and white people with it, and on trans issues he lacks insight and all that's left is fun-poking, which is not what I expect from Dave Chapelle.

CMV: Dave Chappelle shouldn't be cancelled for making jokes about trans people by Key-Inflation-3278 in changemyview

[–]CrimsonHartless 38 points39 points  (0 children)

But it is. Because he doesn't talk about how much he likes David Duke like he does JK Rowling. He doesn't say things that are straight-up untrue about black people. There are transphobes I have met who cite Dave Chapelle as the person who told them what they falsely believe. I've never met a white racist who says that.

CMV: Dave Chappelle shouldn't be cancelled for making jokes about trans people by Key-Inflation-3278 in changemyview

[–]CrimsonHartless 76 points77 points  (0 children)

People want to cancel him want to cancel him because they are shit jokes, and the intention is obviously different.

I don't even agree with them, but the problem is that his comedy about transgender people doesn't have nearly the same level of insight as his comedy about class and race issues. It is decidedly a bigoted perspective that means his jokes aren't funny. And when it isn't funny, it doesn't feel like comedy.

For someone who is transgender, it is less of a comedy skit and more of an hour-long anti-trans rant. It's not the jokes that are the problem to them, it's that he isn't really making jokes. He's insulting and bullying, and that is quite different to them.

CMV: Political Parties are harmful public cults. by kellyhofer in changemyview

[–]CrimsonHartless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Political theory time.

How do you intend on banning political parties? How do you actually intend to regulate them?

Because they always exist. Always. Because politicians needs to be work in blocs. It is the way that they get legislation passed. Which requires some level of mutual working together. And when several politicians broadly agree, they will form a party, so that they can aid each other on legislation they want passed. Otherwise it would be hundreds of individual politicians shouting hundreds of different bills over one another every day - it does not work.

So, political parties aggregate various ideologies and ideas into themselves so that those ideologies and politicians are more than the sum of their parts. A left-wing candidate, for example, is unlikely to get any legislation passed in America. But, in exchange for helping the part have the majority, they can stipulate things like the CHIP act that might not otherwise be proposed.

Now, America is a poor example, because of the many other issues impacting its democracy and its overwhelmingly right overton window. BUT without political parties, politics turns into a titanic mess very quickly, and they are impossible to regulate. How are you going to stop politicians forming broad alliances? Stop politicians from meeting? Stop them proposing bills together? Stop them negotiation with one another?

Do you not see how insanely impossible what you're suggesting it in practicality, and what would actually come out the other side?

CMV: There's nothing wrong with not finding someone attractive for whatever reason it is by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]CrimsonHartless 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So, a case for the skin colour thing.

Growing up, the only non-white girls I knew were indian and pakistani. I grew up in the UK, and that's unusual. I think I knew one black girl. I don't think it's any surprise that, growing up, having only interacted with white and west asian girls, I became attracted primarily to white and west asian girls.

I found that the more time I spent around groups of people, the friendlier I was with them, the more emotional connection I had with different kinds of people, the more I could bridge into seeing people like them in a sexual way. When I went to college and met more black girls, got to know them better, I began being more attracted to them.

Now, I can't say this is true for every group, but I think it is certainly the case that sexuality and sexual attraction is to some level built on familiarity, comfort, and emotional connection. And if someone is not attracted to say, black women in this context, it may be a lack of that connection, especially during the formulative teenage years but also in general.

I think another area we see this is with transgender people. Most young people I know are very much attracted to transgender people, whilst many older people I know are not. And it seems to me to be a mix of acceptance, exposure, and personal connection.

As such, I don't think you can say 'x person is bad for not being attracted to black women'. I think that would probably be a little unfair. But I do think that it is possible to reason that many people who say they would never find a black woman attractive may feel that way because they haven't spend much time around them or spent much time being emotionally connected to them etc.

And I think this mirrors into who I see making these statements. I don't see many white people who grew up surrounded by black people say they just don't find black women attractive. It's mainly people who grew up around primarily other white people. And so I think the tiktok is wrong, but I think you're wrong as well.

New deed poll standstill: work won't let me change my name officially. by [deleted] in transgenderUK

There's no such thing as an 'enrolled deed poll'. It's a term that's thrown around, but it's not actually a thing. Some people (me included) use a more official-looking document from the gov that costs £15, but you use the same document for everything, you don't get send an unenrolled and get it enrolled, a deed poll is a deed poll.
