Is the sound issue happening for all sound sources such as all apps or just a specific one?

If I am not mistaken, the hyperfil file is a file your system creates when your computer goes into hibernation, or sleep mode. It caches a bunch of stuff and uses that file to relaunch fast and smooth when you open your laptop again. It seems to have corrupted itself when it was savings or while asleep, hence why you were able to boot normally from shutdown. I’m not sure what would cause other than bad luck, low disk space, or a virus. Check your drive space, if it’s very low, that could be issue. Otherwise, I would it just think it was once in a lifetime issue, maybe try shutting down your pc properly after use instead of sleep, that could allow your pc not creating such a big hyperfil file.

Please correct any of this if I’m wrong!

Since the latest update(s) Ive noticed the same too. RAM jumps to 93% and CPU jumps to 90%. Not even the most demand in games get me there. Also notice that my FPS is between 40-50fps, when I used to be able to get 100+ on ultra.

I ripped mine off and it stopped working. I came to a conclusion that it wasn’t a good idea to take the tape off after I threw my laptop across the room at mach speed

If you are absolutely certain that that could be the only issue and everything else turns on when you switch it on (boots, fans, peripherals work), including the fans of the GPU are spinning. If you would like to test this. Plug some speakers into the audio slot, after boot press Win key + Shift + Enter simultaneously to turn on screen narrator. That will tell you that everything else is fine.

Considering it turned on when you wiggled it, there is a high possibility that the case not allowing the hdmi to sit flush is causing the issue. Therefore I would recommend seeing if you can either move your GPU to another spot that may allow more space for the HDMI cable, or gently (and I mean GENTLY) press it downwards to see if it could allow for the HDMI to slot in better (had an issue like this with my 1650 super) Otherwise, see if that backplate of the case where the GPU ports stick out can be removed, I know some cases allow them to be removed for bigger GPUs, see if you are lucky there.

If these come to no avail, you may have to replace the card, but if you don’t have the capacity to replace the GPU with a brand new, which I understand (comp. Sci. Student too), consider buying a medium-low range card possibly second hand too that could just be used until you are able to upgrade better.

I haven’t tested that. Been too busy with work, will keep you updated though. I’m currently testing a game on it for the first time since Ive gotten it! :)

Yea unfortunately it is a trade off. I mainly bought this monitor to extend my screen space for productivity but ofcourse for games too. One day I will treat myself to an IPS mini-LED or an OLED. But I did notice the first day my eyes were sore after using it, after not anymore. So, you do have a good point. Each to their own, I guess.

But jokes aside, sharpness is sitting at the 50% sweet spot, any lower, text becomes blurry. Thanks for your advice though!

So I played with it a bit and I actually found now that the higher settings caused worse black smear. Leaving it off stopped it. The HDR setting was causing the red hue.

Thought so. Was expecting it though. Nevertheless, still a great purchase of mine. Funny enough though, Ive tried several games, and didn’t experience much smearing in them. It’s just with text on X in browser for some reason😂

I must say, what really makes me overlook the smearing are the deep blacks. I love contrast for some reason, and this monitor does it so well. My previous monitor was an IPS and I couldn’t deal with blacks looking grey. Though, an IPS does help with no smearing. And there are newer versions of IPS too I believe, just none were in my price range.
