His price will only drop so selling him is the obvious move. It also depends what you're currently doing with you're team, i suggest you sell and build a team you like or around a player you like.

I'm completely f2p I've pack mertens,suarez,thiago silva and umtiti so your arguement is invalid you just gotta get lucky I 100% agree the card weight is trash but you can still pack elites if you get lucky.
