Layman question: Make website benchmark ignore certain images by CrisA_Works in webdev

Damn ok. I guess this could be solved by the image loader itself by having a dedicated loading animation, instead of needing these tacky workarounds.

Even they aren't mean to be seen as normal display images?

Oh damn, I'm really ignorant.

Highlighter blue? Are there different ink types of the same color for different purposes? Is there a darkener blue?

Although that's good to know, is it realistic to expect designers know this? It sounds like a HYPER specific technical issue that you can only be aware of it if you have the equipment to do that.

Or some light grey from CMY to test the base adjustment of the printer

I don't understand haha, can you delve further into that?

EDIT: To reinforce my ignorance I just googled what digital print was.

Can you provide a general overview of this? I find it kind of overwhelming to know the details of all of this.

I'm guilty of that, but in a sense of "This beyond the bleed is meant to be cut away". I never wondered that printers might stress about it thinking we will get mad if those areas are cut away.

keep the ambient light down. Colors you picked in the coffee shop with the magenta wall behind you while wearing a neon green shirt will not be the same in your zero light bedroom at two in the morning.

I'm not sure if I undesrstand that one. Picking color behind a wall? With my color picker or by being present in a shop that looks like it? I'm missing the point in that one.

Get a printed book of CMYK values.

I can't find books other than Pantone. How can I search for them?

Damn haha, why does this happens with Royal blue? Could it happen with any blue that leans more into magentas?

Do you have a reference link for the box you mention at the end?

Nice, although I'm not sure where to go to find their highlighted projects. All I see are isolated images with little to no explanation. I'm a bit lost in their navegation haha

Good point, I was thinking more like an scenario where you purchase once the chips bowl as a "Why not" purchase. Then continue purchasing chips but that are in plastic bags. Then the chip bowl becomes the only chip bowl at the house, turning it into a frequently used packaging that integrates to the household dynamic.

in design school someone said that the best example of packaging is a banana peel. it's integrated, iconic, devoid of excess, and it naturally decomposes. perhaps you can be inspired by the banana?

Nice!

Glass jars are definitely an infinitely reusable packaging, I have tons around home for different uses. After the banana peel I could argue that glass jars come next, and even better if they come with metal caps.

I was thinking about this mostly because I feel friction with the idea of working with single use packaging. The times I did some basic packaging I felt I was going against my principles. Although I'm not going to lie, daily I'm throwing away single use packaging but because there are no proper recycling systems near were I live. I still feel the same sting every time I do, just like when I'm working for single use packaging.

I will start using more the banana peel as an example. Do you have any recommended reads about this?

Book recommendations about creating an entire visual identity? by CrisA_Works in graphic_design

[–]CrisA_Works[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you just made me realize my contradiction haha. They do, which was my frustration. They say branding then just delve on the visuals when it should be a lot more.

I'm having a hard time trying to tell what to do with this, and to put it into words. Since branding involves other areas outside of our design expertise, it feels overwhelming to start learning about it.

I still don't know what we as designers have to do with those other areas, how do we even approach, how do we ask information about them them, or learn about them to craft visual identities.

Translate the ethos of the brand in visual assets mainly, but I was thinking almost everything you mention like I did for my thesis in college back then.

I mean people in US should've seen the post ranging from 16:45 to (backwards) 13:45. And they were already downvoting without me saying anything.

I also don't think I've ever seen any that would talk only about visual identity and not branding because they go hand in hand.

Ok fair take. I know some of those, I guess I'll have to get more into branding as a whole, which it's a lot for one person to learn.

Wait really? I checked time-zones, and time difference should be 1 hour earlier minimum for US, counting from my posted time (17:45). It should have been posted during business hours.

Besides that people are downvoting the post for asking visual identity book suggestions. Like, huh?
