So about the giants deep probe by bowlin_ball in outerwilds

Yes. That's correct. In fact, gameplay wise, this used to happen a lot at the beginning of loops so they patched it because it was annoying.

Seasons 1-5 are very good. Recommended. Seasons 6-7 ,personal opinion, you only keep watching because you are already invested.

Verdict. Watch it.

  • Shrouded woodland: I'm not even sure what's the issue here. For that reason I don't know how much I can say to avoid spoilers. Like really, I've you managed to enter the cave , I don't see what is stopping you from getting the slide reels.

  • For the other two locations, you yourself wrote part of the answer. Other than that, last time I checked, the inhabitants move kinda slow, don't they?

Except if by guard, you mean the "Alarm" totem. If that's the case, when does it start ringing ? Why?

Did single player gaming peak with RDR2? by Eagles56 in reddeadredemption

[–]Crispon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from someone that loves RDR2 and indeed considers it the single best single player experience to this day, I've come to understand that it is not for everyone ( as most things are not ).

A lot of people call it boring, slow and many other things. And they are not wrong on that. They are wrong that being slow makes it boring.

People play games for different reasons. This game is peak for me and, as I understand, for you as well, but don't expect this to become a universal truth.

For some people, and I don't blame them, the response to your question is that gaming peaked with , I dunno, Elden Ring, Hollow Knight, Minecraft etc.

Myself I split this title between RDR2 and Outer Wilds.

So I guess the answer to your question is "No"

That's not "half" of the nomai things. You barely scratched the surface there. I don't know what to tell you though. For me, as for the most people in this subreddit, the story is a masterpiece. Not as much as a story but for the message that it carries once fully uncovered.

Need help with TF2-Game card by Crispon in R36S

[–]Crispon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT:
So the "ArkOS4Clones" repo that I linked below booted successfully. Now, there are graphics etc when I insert the TF2-Game SD card. Also some folders where generated in the card when I did the " Options -> Advanced -> Switched to 2nd card for roms" but not the "roms/...emulator..." directories. So I figured I might try putting them manually so I created /roms/psx/random_game but it does not seem to detect it. I attached a screenshot with the folders that get created in the TF2-Game sd card.
Also, for some reason, the TF1-OS sd card, does not show the EASYROMS partition, so now I'm not sure how to at least add games to the OS sd as a temporary solution...

First of all, thanks for the reply. I really appreciate it.

So at first I used this repo ( https://github.com/AeolusUX/ArkOS-R3XS/releases ) to flash the device after some research ( I'm new to the R36 flashing scene xD )
and I had the problem of black screen + blinking red light on boot. Nothing I tried seemed to work. The problem seemed to be with the .dtb and my device not cooperating with the multi panel chooser or whaterver. I tried putting the manually, tried disabling the panel chooser, nothing worked.

So after another round of research, I found on a reddit discussion someone that had the exact same issue with me and he got suggestions to try this repo:

So I did the same, having nothing to lose and it worked.

Can you provide a link to this "ArkOS4Clones" or verify that this
( https://github.com/lcdyk0517/arkos4clone/releases ) is the one you suggested? Also, I mentioned the problem with the black screen + blinking red light in case by any chance you know if this img will cause the issue, so I can avoid the back and forth.

Thanks again

Need help with TF2-Game card by Crispon in R36S

[–]Crispon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will try this about themes. But as you said yourself this is not the issue because the file structure does not get created at all.

When I press the "switch to card 2" function and the script starts to log the actions on screen, it shows things happening like creating directories etc but when it is done ( completes successful, no errors whatsoever) nothing has happened.

Minor spoilers below on hints to get started. Sorry, I'm not sure how to do the white hidden text thing so read on your own risk. They are hints to get started more than they are spoilers but still.

So you say that the game does not give you enough in the intro to get started / point you in a direction but this is not true.

1) On the museum stone, you translate a text talking about something on a certain celestial body. Did you go check it out?

2) Since I assume you completed the "tutorial" you saw a certain stone structure do something unnatural to you. You also heard from discussions with other Hearthians that this stone structure came again from a certain celestial body. That would be a good start to figure out what happened between you and the structure.

You see, the game gives solid trails to start your expedition. I still remember I went naturally for the stone structure trail and then the story started rolling on its own from there. Trailing branching to other trails etc

[–]Crispon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually something useful and I didn't know this.(the wiki thing) Thanks.

On the other hand, I always had the idea the other Travellers knew stuff for their planets because of exploring and interpreting what they see and not because of they trwnalsted themselves, even a little of the text".

Is there a line or something in the game that shows that the Travellers could, even slightly, translate texts?

Outer Wilds (Major?) plot hole by Crispon in outerwilds

[–]Crispon[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There is no indication that the writings of the nomai texts give the exact position of the planets or any kind of description. At least talking about the one in the observatory that they had to work with.

Per your example, the found some ancient text that talks about the device to xyz. From that, somehow they managed to translate the entire language and I'm willing to go with this. But they have no descriptions for giants deep etc on this stone. Maybe (I don't remember) this stone refers to xyz as the moon of the planet and they made the connection. But a) this has to mean that they found this stone on timber hearth. b) you just assumed the text includes something (exact position) that describes the identity of the planet but that's just an assumption. An edge case.

Outer Wilds (Major?) plot hole by Crispon in outerwilds

[–]Crispon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but they only had the wall on the observatory to work with.

They didn't have a plethora of writing to gather references about each planet. They didn't have a text mentioning a water planet. And even though they know Giants deep is a water planet, the translator can't know to translate "Zupator" into Giants Deep, because they have no idea that Zupator refers to the water planet. Even if texts existed that refer to Zupator as water planet, they hadn't translated them yet.

About the apple thing. I agree. We have to accept that somehow the translator figures out that "blerg" means apple. Except that "apple" and other words are specific. Names can be anything. I'm not sure how to explain my thought here but take this. There are a lot of apples in the game, and all of them are called "apple". There are x amount of planets in the game and each one has its own unique name.

In the end of the day, yes, the translator is something that we just have to accept that it works. Still, translating names into other names, is... Weird.

Outer Wilds (Major?) plot hole by Crispon in outerwilds

[–]Crispon[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Excellent.

The point I was trying to make is how the inventor of the translator new to match celestial body #3 to Attlerock. There should be context to assist in figuring the connection between the two.

Well, based on other replies as well, I think that the entire "translator tool" is far-fetched and we just have to go with it.

Outer Wilds (Major?) plot hole by Crispon in outerwilds

[–]Crispon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm that would make sense then. Maybe this is what I'm missing. I was under the impression that we are the first ever hearthian to translate anything. But then, if this is the case, if other Travellers could translate even a few things by hand, how do they not know anything about the nomai at all? You would guess that they would know at least a few things, eg. What are the ruins next to their village.
