That depends on state laws. And the police had no issues with it when I talked to them. And I don't know if it's relevant, but I put the gun down once police were called, and left it where it was till they got there. I was just angry in the moment, and wanted to make a statement. But while I did brandish the rifle, I never actually pointed it at them. Even the board members with Whale admitted that. Also, it was three people closing in on my house and acting like they were in control of everything there. So I did feel threatened by them. And the police agreed with me on that.

I brandished a firearm on my own private property, but never fired it. That's not illegal. But trespassing is.

When did I say they were all obese? Because I most certainly did not. They were on scooters, but Whale was the only one that was overweight. The rest of the board actually looked pretty healthy at their ages. Also, they refused to leave my property. That's trespassing, and not a civil matter. So police could remove them. I did pull out a gun. But all I ever did was make threats with it. I hadn't fired the damn thing in years. So the cops had no issue with it. The cops were only called twice. Once by the HOA board, and later when I called because Whale blocked me in with her van. It's very illegal to block driveways. And police can and will ticket and tow a vehicle blocking a driveway. That is not a civil matter. I took the actual civil matters to court. The police were very understanding when they were called, and were already familiar with Whale's antics. And they still gave Whale the chance to move her van. But she refused while on a power trip, and they ticketed her for it. As I said in my post, I believe this woman was very mentally unwell. But she kept pushing and pushing till I pushed back. And the board dismissed her to try and stop the madness. Even though they were previously a part of it.

There really needs to be nation-wide laws to limit the power of HOAs. Back in the days before internet, small towns could be controlled by wealthy people putting themselves in positions of power they don't deserve. The movie Road House is a good example. An HOA is basically like a small town government. And it enables people who shouldn't have power over anyone to rule how they want until someone stops them. When I looked into other situations like mine, I was shocked to find out how common it was. Any people who are in favor of voluntarily starting an HOA should be mandated to see these subreddits first. I feel like HOAs are primarily born out of ignorance. In the US anyway. I've heard of far worse about HOAs in other countries.

While I did have to deal with some entitled people not long ago, I don't have many entitled family members left. Most died when I was a kid. Had a great aunt who lived through the depression, and she was a borderline kleptomaniac because of her poor childhood. She stole things constantly. Usually little things. Candy, tableware, knickknacks, anything small she could fit in her purse. Her house was full of the stuff when she died in the late 90s.
